Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition — Children and Youth Challenge

The Commonwealth Sustainable Energy Transition (CSET) wants children and young people to come up with ideas for how we can teach people about sustainable energy in our communities in fun and easy to understand ways, and ways we can use sustainable energy. All individuals and team members must be a resident in a Commonwealth member country. The winning entries (one per five Commonwealth regions of Africa, Asia, Europe and Canada, Caribbean, and Pacific) will be offered the chance to pitch their ideas to their local governments and policymakers. Ornithological Society of the Middle East — Trevor Poyser Species Conservation Fund

The Ornithological Society of the Middle East (OSME) makes grants to support bird research in the Middle East, Caucasus, and Central Asia. The Trevor Poyser Species Conservation Fund supports research projects that lead to clear conservation benefits for a globally threatened species that occurs within the OSME region. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — Online Course on Forest and Landscape Restoration

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) announces a call for applications for young professionals (under 35 years old) living in Asia for an online course on forest and landscape restoration. The online course includes teaching materials, access to expert commentary and guided exercises to support the development of ecologically, socially and economically realistic restoration plans. Asia Foundation — Development Fellows 2024

The Asia Foundation’s Development Fellows program provides qualified young Asian professionals with an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and gain in-depth knowledge of Asia’s critical development challenges. The program offers two weeks of leadership training in Asia and another two weeks in the USA, plus a grant of US$5 thousand to support individual plans for professional development. Applicants should be less than age 40 and have demonstrable experience in one of the program’s fields of expertise, which include environment (among others). The program is open to resident nationals and citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pacific Islands, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam. Climate Investment Funds — Youth Fellowship

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) supports young climate professionals with a career-focused fellowship program. The CIF Youth Fellowship is a professional capacity-building program focused on providing hands-on experience to young leaders in global climate action. CIF Youth Fellows will work with Multilateral Development Banks on real-world projects in areas related to nature-based solutions, clean energy, adaptation and climate resilience, energy access, and gender and social inclusion. Candidates must be between 18-28 years and reside in Egypt, Tunisia, Kenya, India, Jamaica, or Thailand. The application deadline is 07 July 2023. CIF Youth Fellowship

The World Academy of Sciences — Regional Workshop on Science Diplomacy

The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) seek candidates to participate in the regional training workshop on science diplomacy. The workshop is designed for applicants from science and technology lagging countries from South and Central Asia. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Uzbekistan

The European Commission (EC) seeks to strengthen non-governmental actors and promote cooperation between civil society organizations to contribute to social change and sustainable development in Uzbekistan. One priority area is the Green Deal (i.e. climate change, environment). Applicants may request between €300 thousand and €450 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Orange Knowledge Program

The Orange Knowledge Program (OKP) makes scholarships to mid-career professionals from selected developing countries for short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months) and master’s programs (duration 12-24 months). Eligible countries as well as eligible courses are listed in the announcement. Interested applicants need to first select a course and then contact the education institution of the course and ask how to apply for the scholarship. The application deadline is 05 September 2023. U.S. Government — Countering the Illicit Exotic Pet Trade

The project aims to combat wildlife trafficking across Central and South Asia including India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. The aim is to increase the capacity and ability of governments to identify, interdict, investigate, and prosecute this illegal trade and dismantle the organized crime networks. Awards range from US$300 thousand to US$600 thousand. Eligibility extends to US-based and foreign non-profit organizations and educational institutions. The MedFund — Marine Biodiversity Conservation

The MedFund provides sustainable funding for marine biodiversity conservation. MedFund launches a call for interest dedicated to support Mediterranean MPAs’ managers by funding day to day management costs of protected marine areas. The funding request must not exceed an average annual amount of €75 thousand. Applicants must be officially designated MPAs (or under designation process) in Lebanon, Montenegro, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, or Albania. The call for interest is open until 30 April 2023.
