Participants from Switzerland and Brazil are invited to submit joint project proposals for research and development of innovative products and applications with a strong market potential in Switzerland and Brazil. The innovation project should be science-based, targeting to achieve advances in new solutions. The call is open for all scientific disciplines; however, projects in biotech, agriculture, clean energy & water, and sustainable cities and communities are particularly appreciated. European Commission — Consolidator Grants
The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries. Latvian State Education Development Agency — Scholarships 2022/2023
The Latvian State Education Development Agency offers scholarships to foreign students, researchers and teaching staff for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) for the academic year 2022/2023. Study programs include Agriculture, Environmental Science, Forestry, Energy, among others. The scholarship amount varies from €500 to €670 per month, depending on the program. KU Leuven — PhD Scholarships for Students from the Global South
KU Leuven is the largest university in Flanders, Belgium. As one part of its cooperation to advance international development, KU Leuven offers 10 PhD scholarships to candidates from developing countries. The university offers sandwich scholarships, which means that 50% of the research takes place at KU Leuven and 50% at the home institution of the scholar, as well as full-time research at KU Leuven (4 years). The scholarships are offered to proposals that deal with a development-relevant research topic, preferably linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. The Kakuma Kalobeyei Challenge Fund (KKCF) is a competitive business challenge that will support established companies, social enterprises, and local entrepreneurs in implementing commercially viable and sustainable businesses in the Kakuma refugee camp and Turkana County (Kenya). The Fund provides grants ranging from US$100 thousand to US$750 thousand and technical assistance to micro and small enterprises. The EKOenergy Climate Fund calls for project proposals to enhance capacities of local communities to implement renewable energy projects, and to establish renewable electricity installations. The call aims to alleviate energy poverty and social inequality in developing countries. The Fund seeks to support 6-10 solar and wind energy projects with a financial contribution in the range of €10 thousand to €40 thousand. The REACT Sub-Saharan Africa Program makes grants to clean energy providers in Kenya to drive the expansion of access to clean energy across the country. The program supports renewable energy products or services, access to energy and electricity, cook stoves and fuel solutions, and mini-grids. The maximum award per company is US$500 thousand.
