UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Partnerships with China

The BBSRC Partnering Awards aim to set up partnership links between UK and overseas laboratories, promote the exchange of scientists, particularly early career scientists, and to promote access to facilities. Funding of up to £30 thousand is available for a period of up to four years for partnerships with Chinese bioscience laboratories. International partnerships focusing on the net zero carbon emissions target, through a sustainable, resilient and bio-diverse agri-food system are especially welcome. Natural History Book Store — Gratis Books in Ecology and Conservation

The Natural History Book Store supports science and conservation by supplying wildlife and environment books and equipment. In its Gratis Books Scheme, NHBS collaborates with other UK-based organizations to donate books on ecology and conservation to worthy recipients in the developing world. Individuals may request a book for themselves or suggest it for others. All applications will be considered together, and the available copies will be awarded to those considered most able to benefit from them. Find available books

Unleash — Incubation Program for Entrepreneurs

UNLEASH Plus is a global 6-month incubation program for entrepreneurs working on social or environmental challenges, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The program provides teams with the right skills, mindsets, and resources to test and launch their solutions, and design them for large-scale impact. Teams will explore real-life challenges within the SDG themes, before defining specific problems and coming up with solutions. The top teams will present their solutions to investors and experts. The program is open to all youth entrepreneurs looking to advance solutions that address the SDGs. The application deadline is 25 July 2021. UNLEASH Plus

Society for Conservation Biology — Research in Marine Conservation

The Society for Conservation Biology (Marine Section) supports the Conservation Research Small Grants Program. The program provides grants of US$750 to US$1,000 for marine conservation research in areas of acute need, especially for research in the developing world or for organizations with limited access to conservation funding. Applicants must be members of the Society for Conservation Biology and the SCB Marine Section, or join the SCB before applying for grants. Applications are accepted annually between 1 July and 15 September. Find information here

ETH Zurich — Opportunity Grants

The Leading House ETH Zurich calls for proposals for opportunity grants with China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN countries. Opportunity grants will support activities of Swiss researchers from universities or public research institutes linked to specific events, incidents, or major environmental and economic developments in the region in Asia. The call is open to all scientific disciplines and fields of research. Senior scientists may request up to CHF 50 thousand for projects of up to 12 months. The application deadline is 18 July 2021. India Department of Science and Technology — Indo-Russian Joint Research

The India Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) invite joint research proposals in the areas of basic science. Focus areas include Plant and Animal Biotechnology; Clean Energy; and Safe Food; among others. Each project will receive annual funding of up to equivalent of US$100 thousand in respective national currencies for up to three years. Polish Academy of Sciences — Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS) seeks 35 fellows to carry out their research at one of the PAS institutes. The fellowship program is open to scholars of any nationality, representing all research disciplines. Research fields include agricultural sciences, biological sciences, environmental science, geosciences, and many others. Each fellow receives a monthly allowance of €2,500 and, if applicable, an additional family allowance. In addition, fellows will be provided with a research budget of up to €93 thousand per project. University of Essex — Africa Scholarship Programme 2021-2022

The University of Essex invites applications from African students who self fund their postgraduate studies. The university offers a scholarship of £4 thousand to African students that will be paid as a discount on the tuition fee. Available courses include biological sciences, marine biology, and biochemistry, among many others. Applicants that meet all the eligibility criteria and firmly accept the offer of their place by 18 September 2021 will automatically be awarded this scholarship (please read the instructions carefully). Global Giving — Crowdfunding Training Opportunity

GlobalGiving is an online platform to raise funds for grassroots projects worldwide across many sectors and themes – including in agriculture, energy, environment, and natural resources. GlobalGiving announces a new Accelerator program that will offer virtual training in online fundraising and participation in a two-week crowdfunding campaign. The program is open to nonprofit organizations anywhere in the world. Organizations that successfully complete the GlobalGiving Accelerator by raising at least US$5 thousand total from a minimum 40 different donors will earn permanent membership with GlobalGiving, in addition to $30 thousand in matching funding and bonus prizes. World Academy of Sciences — Research Grants in Basic Sciences (Individuals)

The TWAS Research Grants Program in Basic Sciences supports researchers in developing countries, particularly those that lack access to appropriate research facilities. Grants are awarded for research projects in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics either to individual young researchers or to research units. Individual scientists can apply for up to US$15 thousand. Individual applicants must be nationals of developing countries. The application deadline is 14 April 2021. TWAS Research Grants Individuals
