University of Oxford — Scholars Program for Africans

The Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) offers seven graduate scholarships for the 2026-27 MBA program at the University of Oxford. Scholarships are available for applicants who are African nationals, and who can demonstrate a commitment to Africa’s development. The scholarships cover course fees and a grant for living costs, as well as a tailor-made training program. The application deadline is 07 January 2026. AfOx Scholars Program

The Explorers Club — Impact Grants

The Explorers Club Impact Grants support individual researchers and explorers worldwide who conduct field-based scientific expeditions in disciplines such as ecology, earth sciences, anthropology, archaeology, paleontology, and astronomy—especially exploring regions experiencing environmental or cultural change. Grants typically range from US$10 thousand to US$25 thousand, covering expenses for on-site fieldwork. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Explorers Club Impact Grants

African World Heritage Fund — Grants for World Heritage Conservation

The African World Heritage Fund (AWHF) provides grants to implement projects and activities which focus on improving the state of conservation of World Heritage properties located in Africa. Project activities are restricted to African government institutions involved in the management and protection of World Heritage sites, both cultural and natural, as defined by UNESCO. The grant will cover direct costs related to project activities. Applicants can apply for up to US$10 thousand in project funding. Projects must be implemented within 12 months. Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Training for Journalists Reporting

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers a four-day virtual workshop aimed at business and finance journalists from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Thailand to strengthen their climate-focused reporting on corporate accountability, green finance, and sustainable solutions. The training covers net-zero strategies, greenwashing detection, inclusive transitions, and more, and includes an opportunity to apply for a story grant post-workshop. It’s open to journalists working in any medium (print, online, TV, radio), with preference given to women, rural, Indigenous, early- and mid-career professionals. Play for Nature — Biodiversity Conservation

Play for Nature supports global biodiversity conservation through two thematic tracks: Biodiv’Monde, focused on in-situ conservation and scientific studies of endangered species and habitats, and Biodiv’Sport, which funds projects linking biodiversity awareness with sports events and outdoor activities. Grants range from €5 thousand to €15 thousand per project and are open to environmental NGOs operating anywhere in the world. The deadline to apply is 25 August 2025. Play for Nature

Both ENDS — JWH Initiative

The Joke Waller-Hunter (JWH) Initiative offers grants to advance the leadership of young individuals working for or affiliated with environmental civil society organizations in developing and emerging countries. JWH especially encourages the nomination of young women and local community leaders. Grants range from €2,500 to €7,000. The next nomination deadline is 28 August 2025. Details here

Brookfield Zoo Chicago — Endangered Species Fund

The Brookfield Zoo Chicago administers conservation grants funded by the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). The Fund’s priority is to support projects that assist directly in the protection of populations of threatened and endangered species; or that protect a specific habitat that is of high biological value or that is substantially threatened (IUCN Red List Status). Purpose Earth is a grant and mentorship program empowering leaders and their transformative solutions to our global challenges. Purpose Earth supports projects that are finding creative solutions within the areas of environmental protection, community activation, and cultural collaboration. London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine — Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Planetary Health Postdoctoral Fellowship is aimed at early-career researchers focused on the intersection of human health and environmental change. The fellowship supports solutions-oriented research addressing critical issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable food systems. The fellowship is fully funded for two years, with a competitive salary and research support. The fellowship is open globally to researchers within three years of completing their PhD, with experience in planetary health-related disciplines (e.g., epidemiology, environmental science, health policy). Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Reporting Fellowships

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a virtual media workshop for business and finance journalists in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia and Thailand seeking to strengthen their climate-focused reporting on environmental accountability, financial and industry solutions and informing public demand for change in Asia’s business sector. Participants who attend the workshop will also be eligible to apply for a story grant to produce journalistic work. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other media practitioners with experience covering business, finance and/or the economy.
