Copernicus Masters — Environment, Energy & Health Challenge

Copernicus Masters is an international innovation competition that honors the best solutions using earth observation data and applications to solve global challenges. The Environment, Energy & Health Challenge, sponsored by DLR, seeks innovative solutions that use earth observation (EO) data to support sustainable management of the planet’s limited natural resources and foster human well-being. The winner of the DLR challenge receives €5 thousand. All participants have the chance to win an additional €10 thousand if chosen as the overall Copernicus winner. Copernicus Masters is an international innovation competition that honors the best solutions using earth observation data and applications to solve global challenges. The Blue Challenge, sponsored by Portugal Space, seeks innovative and business-oriented ideas for ocean and coastal areas that tackle global problems. The winner receives a cash prize of €10 thousand, support to attend the Space Awards (including expenses for two people), plus other benefits. All participants have the chance to win an additional €10 thousand if chosen as the overall Copernicus winner. The competition is open to participants worldwide. International Water Association — Global Water Award

The International Water Association (IWA) focuses on developing solutions for water and wastewater management. IWA invites applications for the IWA Global Water Award. The award recognizes the exceptional contribution made by an individual to improve sustainable water and sanitation globally by creating an innovative water solution/management practice that impacts broader sustainable development. The award will be presented at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark (September 2022). The application deadline is 06 May 2022. Global Water Award

International Water Association — Young Leadership Award

The International Water Association (IWA) Young Leadership Award is granted to an exceptional water professional below the age of 35 who has demonstrated significant achievements in their career. This award recognizes the contribution of an individual rather than an organization or project. The winner will receive their award during the World Water and Development Congress & Exhibition (September 2022) in Copenhagen, Denmark. The call for nominations closes 06 May 2022. Stockholm International Water Institute — Stockholm Water Prize 2026

The Stockholm Water Prize is awarded annually for outstanding achievements supporting the availability, conservation, and protection of the world’s water resources. The award is open to individuals and organizations of any nationality whose work contributes broadly to the conservation and protection of water resources. Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture — Young African Entrepreneurs Competition 2022

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) sponsors a competition for young African entrepreneurs (< 35 years) to showcase their business innovations in agribusiness. Although the focus of the competition is agribusiness, business innovations in other themes (e.g., natural resources, meteorology, urbanization, green economy, etc.) will also be considered. Competition will provide seed funding to young entrepreneurs with creative and innovative business ideas. The competition is open to all African countries. Athens Photo World — International Photojournalism Award

Athens Photo World seeks applications from professional photojournalists for the Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award. Athens Photo World will award €15 thousand to a completed project of reportage or documentary photography, created within the last 3 years. Graduate Institute Geneva — Geneva Challenge on Poverty Reduction

The Graduate Institute Geneva invites graduate students from all around the world to develop innovative interdisciplinary solutions that address the global challenges of poverty reduction. Five finalist teams, one team per continent, will be invited to an oral presentation in Geneva. The winning project will receive CHF10 thousand. Fiat Panis Foundation — Prize for Improvement of World Nutrition

Foundation Fiat Panis calls for nominations for the Justus von Liebig-Award for World Nutrition for outstanding achievements in the fight against hunger and poverty. Contributions can be scientific contributions to research and teaching in the field of agricultural sciences, entrepreneurial and organizational services, achievements of a humanitarian nature, or contributions to the communication of world food problems and possible solutions. UNESCO — International Prize in the Basic Sciences

The UNESCO-Russia Mendeleev International Prize in the Basic Sciences aims to promote and honor excellence in the basic sciences (chemistry, physics, mathematics, and biology). Each year, two winners receive a financial award of US$250 thousand each. UNESCO invites the governments of Member States, organizations maintaining official partnerships with UNESCO, international scientific unions and universities to propose individual candidates for the 2022 edition. Candidates must be individuals with major achievements in terms of development, diffusion, and international cooperation in the basic sciences, which led to a significant transformational impact on a regional or global scale.
