Hague Academy for Local Governance — Course on “Multilevel Water Governance”
The Hague Academy for Local Governance invites applications for a practice-oriented blended course on water governance. Participants will receive training and visit several Dutch examples of water projects in order to use this knowledge to develop practical solutions for the challenges they face in their home country. Participants are predominantly funded by their own employer but the program is eligible for Nuffic scholarships, which have a separate application process and deadlines (please check carefully). XPRIZE Foundation — Carbon Removal
XPRIZE Carbon Removal, funded by Elon Musk and the Musk Foundation, aims to find solutions that fight climate change and rebalance Earth’s carbon cycle. This four-year global competition invites innovators and teams from anywhere on the planet to create and demonstrate solutions that can pull carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere or oceans. Any carbon negative solution is eligible: nature-based, direct air capture, oceans, mineralization, etc. The competition will last for 4 years through Earth Day 2025. After one year of competition the judges will review all submissions and award up to 15 Milestone Prizes of $1 million each. U.S. Agency for International Development — Partnerships in WASH
The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) aims to engage locally based new and underutilized partners to diversify partnerships in WASH. The purpose of this activity is to improve governance of water resources and services and improve equitable access to water used for productive purposes. New York Academy of Sciences — Mentoring Program for Girls in STEM
The New York Academy of Sciences’ virtual mentoring program ‘1000 Girls, 1000 Futures’ and ‘The Junior Academy’ accept applications from female students ages 13-17 from around the world. The program connects STEM-focused high school girls to female science mentors and offers an online community with STEM resources. The program also accepts applications of female scientists interested in mentoring young girls. Wild Animal Initiative — Small Grants Program
Wild Animal Initiative provides grants for research projects that help us understand and improve the lives of wild animals. Small grants support innovative methods for measuring and monitoring wild animal welfare, population regulation, wildlife rehabilitation and conservation interventions. Grant size varies from US$2 thousand to US$30 thousand. The small grants program is open to anyone, although Wild Animal Initiative is especially interested in supporting postdocs and PhD students pursuing a long-term research career in the field of wild animal welfare, and researchers who have not previously included welfare considerations in their work. The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites journalists to participate in a training program on locally-led adaptation to climate change. This training opportunity offers a chance to understand the impact of climate change at a local level, and learn how to better report on the topic and enhance Civil Society Organizations communications to effectively communicate their message to the media. King Boudouin Foundation — Research on Water Availability
The Ernest du Bois Prize offers €20 thousand for doctoral studies on the theme of water availability. The awards are made to young students and engineers in Belgium who are carrying out research on the theme of water and its availability — including issues of protecting reserves, managing pollution, developing processing techniques, and others. Natural Resources Defense Council — Climate Storytelling Fellowship
The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and partners invite applications to the NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship. The Fellowship will grant US$20 thousand to three writers to support revision of a feature screenplay or pilot that engages with climate change in a meaningful way. In addition, each fellowship recipient will receive professional feedback and guidance on their scripts. The first 400 writers that opt in with a qualified screenplay or pilot will receive one free month of hosting and one free evaluation. Fee Waivers must be requested no later than 23 October 2022.
