The Office of Private Sector Exchange (BridgeUSA) announces an open competition for the administration of the 2023 BridgeUSA STEM Scholarship Fund. The Office plans to issue one cooperative agreement of approximately US$260 thousand to implement the program. U.S. public and private non-profit organizations may submit proposals to provide approximately 50 scholarships to foreign university students, scholars, and professionals across Africa, East Asia and Pacific, and Western Hemisphere regions. The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 seeks youth-led projects which tackle the causes of air pollution and focus on the long-term health of young people. Projects should focus on individual behavior change, new technologies, or multi-stakeholder advocacy approaches to change laws/policies. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from a team of AstraZeneca Young Health Program professionals. The application deadline is 30 November 2022. The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) requests proposals for the USADF Accelerate Africa Entrepreneurship Challenge. Selected African youth and women-led enterprises will receive funding in the form of grant capital of up to US$250 thousand. Projects must be innovative scalable enterprises that address local needs and have an impact on communities and livelihoods. To be considered for the Challenge, applicants must be 100% African-owned and -managed. Applicants must submit the completed application before 30 September 2022. Spark provides seed grants (US$3 – $5 thousand) to grassroots women’s organizations working internationally and in the US. In addition to grant funding, Spark offers individual pro bono professional services. Organizations engaged in addressing the root causes of challenges that women face internationally, including economic livelihood among others, are eligible to apply. Sparks looks for organizations that provide a service that is not currently available to women in that geographical area. Facebook announces its Community Accelerator Program to provide training, support and funding to enable great communities to make an even greater positive impact in the world. Facebook will award up to US$40 thousand per community and provide personalized coaching. The program is open to communities that have a presence in Facebook Groups with leaders who reside in the following countries: Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Brazil, United States, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan, United Arab Emirate & India. The Johnson & Johnson Scholars Award Program supports female STEM2D leaders (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design). The Scholar Award is paid to the university of the recipient in support of her studies and research. Applicants must be assistant female professors or have a global equivalent faculty position at an accredited academic university, institution or design school. The African Postdoctoral Training Initiative (APTI) supports early-career African scientists who wish to become scientific leaders in their community. APTI makes 4-year postdoctoral fellowships where Fellows are placed in various laboratories for 2 years before returning to their home institutions in Africa for another 2 years of research. Applicants must be citizens of an African country and currently employed in an academic, research, or government position. The fellowship provides salary support of up to US$38 per year, research support of up to US$50 thousand per year, and equipment purchase support of up to US$50 thousand. OYSTER is an independent working group dedicated to promoting and supporting opportunities for young researchers in marine science. EuroMarine offers a grant of €7,500 to early-career researchers from EuroMarine full member organizations to undertake an original and collaborative research project. The Graduate Degree Fellowship provides funding for graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the United States to participate in capacity building and leadership development programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i. The fellowship covers the cost of tuition and fees, books, and housing. Eligibility extends to citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Asia, and countries in the Pacific region (including Russia). MDPI, a publisher of peer-reviewed, open access journals, invites nominations for the Water 2023 Young Investigator Award. The winner will receive CHF 2000.
