The International Zendal Awards recognize outstanding contributions to biotechnology projects in human and animal health within a One Health framework, offering two prizes: €40 thousand for Human Health and €25 thousand for Animal Health. The award is open to public or private institutions worldwide, including universities, NGOs, foundations, startups, and government entities. Nominations are accepted until 20 September 2026. Giving Joy makes micro-grants to women who seek to establish or improve their businesses for the benefit of their communities. Applicants can propose activities in any field, trade, occupation, or craft (e.g., agriculture, fisheries, energy, WASH, etc.). Proposed grant activities must have a social benefit to the community. Grants range from US$250 to US$500. Grants support women entrepreneurs worldwide. Giving Joy offers different grant cycles per year. The next application deadline is 30 September 2026. The UK Department for International Development (DFID) funds the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships for candidates from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries, to undertake full-time study at a UK university. Scholarships are awarded annually across all subjects, with priority for applications that demonstrate strong relevance to development. The program does not accept direct applications for these scholarships, instead all applications must be made through nominating bodies (named in the announcement). Candidates must apply to one of the nominating bodies by 20 October 2026. Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships

Candidates must apply to one of the nominating bodies by 20 October 2026. Commonwealth PhD Scholarships

The Earth Institute at Columbia University invites applications for 2-year postdoctoral fellowships that contribute to understanding critical scientific and social issues in global sustainable development. Specific areas of research include food security, energy systems, climate change, poverty reduction, disease, and environmental degradation. The multi-disciplinary program is open to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens who received their doctoral degrees within five years of beginning their appointments. The Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) offers seven graduate scholarships for the 2027-28 MBA program at the University of Oxford. Scholarships are available for applicants who are African nationals, and who can demonstrate a commitment to Africa’s development. The scholarships cover course fees and a grant for living costs, as well as a tailor-made training program. The application deadline is 08 January 2027. AfOx Scholars Program

The Africa Region of the World Bank Group seeks applications for the 2027 WBG-Africa Fellowship Program for Ph.D. Students and recent Ph.D. graduates who are Sub-Saharan nationals. Fellows will spend at least six months at the World Bank offices in Washington, D.C., or in a Sub-Saharan country, getting hands-on experience in development work. While benefiting from research and innovation in multiple sectors, fellows will also work on economic policy, technical assistance, and lending to eliminate poverty and increase shared prosperity. Fellows will receive consultant fees, economy-class air travel, and worker’s compensation insurance. The program invites applications from recent Ph.D. graduates, or current doctoral students, in disciplinary fields that include agriculture, energy, and others. The Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation awards commercialization support to African innovators developing scalable engineering solutions to local challenges. (Note: This may include one or more thematic areas covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). The winner will receive £25 thousand, three runners-up will be awarded £10 thousand each. Applications are accepted from individuals or small groups. The lead applicant must be a citizen of a country within Sub-Saharan Africa. The deadline for submissions is 08 September 2026. Details

The Cornell Atkinson Center for Sustainability invites applications for its Postdoctoral Fellowship in Sustainability, supporting early-career researchers conducting interdisciplinary projects that address global sustainability challenges. Fellows work under the mentorship of a Cornell faculty member and an external partner organization, with research aligned to one or more of the Center’s priority areas: Accelerating Energy Transitions, Reducing Climate Risk, Increasing Food Security, and One Health. Eligible applicants are researchers who have earned, or will earn, a PhD within two years of the fellowship start date. Up to four fellowships will be awarded, each providing a three-year appointment, an annual salary of US$65,000, full employee benefits, and US$12,000 per year for research and travel expenses. The Live Your Dream Awards offers cash awards of US$1 thousand to US$10 thousand to help women who are the sole financial providers for their families cover tuition costs, purchase books, get transportation, or find reliable childcare. The applicant has to be enrolled in or accepted to a vocational/skills training program or an undergraduate degree program and reside in one of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guam, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Taiwan, United States of America, Venezuela.
