The Georg Forster Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral and experienced researchers from developing and transition countries with their research in collaboration with a host at a German research institution. Nominees must be nationals of a developing or transition country, excluding the People’s Republic of China and India. The monthly fellowship amount is €2,670. The Friedrich Ebert Foundation supports international students from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe who study at universities in Germany. Strengthening Human Rights and Peace Research and Education in ASEAN/Southeast Asia (SHAPE-SEA) hosts an essay writing competition for undergraduate students from Southeast Asia. The Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) invites applications for the RIFS Fellow Program. The Institute particularly welcomes proposals that envisage active collaboration with RIFS researchers and offers Fellows the opportunity to develop their ideas in an international community of eminent researchers, not only within the institute, but also in the wider Potsdam-Berlin area. Applicants can come from a wide range of sectors such as science, public administration, the private sector, civil society, media and the arts. Fellows will receive financial compensation to cover their additional costs of living during their stay in Germany. The Asia Foundation’s Development Fellows program provides qualified young Asian professionals with an opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills and gain in-depth knowledge of Asia’s critical development challenges. The program offers two weeks of leadership training in Asia and another two weeks in the USA, plus a grant of US$5 thousand to support individual plans for professional development. Applicants should be less than age 40 and have demonstrable experience in one of the program’s fields of expertise, which include environment (among others).
