The Know-how Exchange Program co-finances the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI). Thematic areas in the current call by KEP-Italy include energy, environment, and agriculture and rural development (among others). Proposals are submitted by organizations in CEI member states which are also member states of the European Union for knowledge transfers to non-EU member states of the CEI. The non-EU members of the CEI are Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine. The maximum grant is €40 thousand. The Government of Canada seeks Canadian Small and Medium Organizations (SMO) to apply to the Development Impact Window. The aim of this call is to reduce poverty and vulnerability in developing countries by promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. Action areas under this call include one on ‘Environment and Climate Action’. The total amount of funding available under this call is up to CA$36 million over five years. Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and other regional partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The program intends to tackle global challenges – such as climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, rural and urban development, and food safety among others. The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) seeks early-career science and research communicators in the Asia-Pacific region. The new grant opportunity aims to (1) promote collaboration between journalists or media practitioners and scientists/researchers and (2) disseminate scientific outputs in the form of non-scientific materials. DAAD collaborates with the EC’s Marie Curie Program to offer the Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience (PRIME) for outstanding postdoctoral researchers across all disciplines and nationalities. Funding is provided for 18 months, of which 12 months are spent abroad and 6 months at a German university. The funding consists of salaries instead of scholarships. Thematic areas include sustainable energy, climate-secure agriculture, and others. The winner of this challenge will be selected at a final pitch event and receive a full scholarship to attend SU’s Global Startup Program (GSP). The CEI makes grants to support its action plan. Cooperation projects are mainly for seminars, workshops, training courses, and other kinds of meetings. Priority themes include climate, environment, sustainable energy, and others. Projects can be submitted by all public and private bodies in CEI’s member states, as well as by international and regional organizations. Preference is for proposals submitted from CEI’s non-EU member states (Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, and Ukraine). Grants are up to €15 thousand. Danida Market Development Partnerships promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Focusing on SDG 8, the main objective is to promote sustainable local economic growth and employment in developing countries in agriculture, energy, and other sectors. Applications are invited from consortia that include a business partner and an administrative partner, and possibly including additional partners from civil society, government, universities, etc. The program is available in Denmark’s priority countries for development assistance, and in selected other countries below the World Bank limit of lower-middle income countries that have a Danish representation. DMDP has a budget of DKK 100 million in 2019 for 10-12 partnerships. Danida’s support to the partnership project may cover up to 75% of total project costs. The European Commission aims to strengthen the capacity of civil society organisations in Macedonia. The objective of this call is to empower civil society to actively take part in decision making. One of the priority sectors unter this call is Environment & Climate Change (air pollution, solid waste management, energy efficiency & renewable resources, etc.). The European Young Researchers’ Award (EYRA) aims to inspire early stage researchers in all research areas to incorporate a European dimension and perspective into their research. The 2020 call is open to early-career PhD and post-doctoral researchers from any nationality, who work in a European country. The award consists of a certificate, free participation (including travel) at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), and one year free EuroScience membership.
