Smogathon aims to fight air pollution through technology. Start-ups will compete for $15 thousand in cash and a contract to implement their innovation in Krakow, Poland. Smogathon welcomes participation from any group worldwide that works as a registered company, start-up, foundation, or research group with a legal entity. U.S. Department of State — Fisheries Management and Governance
The U.S. Bureau of Oceans – Int. Environmental – Scientific (OES) makes cooperative agreements to support fisheries management and governance in U.S. FTA countries. Projects should focus on improving the science-based management of fisheries; monitoring measures to ensure compliance with fisheries regulations; and combating illegal fishing. OES will award one cooperative agreement of up to US$500 thousand or two cooperative agreements of up to US$250 thousand each. The International RiverFoundation invites applications for the Vera Thiess Fellowship for Women. Women from developing countries get the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through the IRF and its partners, with the goal of advancing women’s participation in water and river management. The Southeast Asian Regional Centre for Tropical Biology (SEAMEO BIOTROP) makes research grants to improve nutrition and entrepreneurial skills of secondary and primary students in Indonesia through school gardens. All primary, secondary, special education and vocational school teachers in Indonesia can apply for the grant. The applicant can either be an individual teacher or a group of teachers. The UK Natural Environment Research Council and funding partners invite proposals for the Towards a Sustainable Earth (TaSE) initiative, which aims to improve our understanding of the complex interactions between people and the environment required to make progress in achieving the United Nations Global Goals (Sustainable Development Goals). Applicants are invited to submit multilateral collaborative research proposals comprising eligible researchers from a minimum of three nations (Eligible funding agencies can be found in the call for proposals). The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives offers short-term funding to community groups, NGOs, people’s organizations — and in exceptional cases, to international NGOs and government institutions — for small projects addressing empowerment, capacity-building, economic, environmental, and social development issues in South Sudan. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Training Programme on Water Management for the Arab Region
IHE Delft, Clingendael and WaterFocus invite applications for the Shiraka (previously Matra-Zuid) training programme on Water Management from civil servants from the Arab region. The two week workshop will take place in The Hague (The Netherlands) from 20 to 31 August 2018. The Dutch government will take care of all relevant costs for participants from countries on the OECD-DAC list. The courses will be in English, with interpretation into [Arabic/ French].
