The awards are both an international prize and a form of project funding, currently £50 thousand over one year. The Earth Institute at Columbia University invites applications for 2-year postdoctoral fellowships that contribute to understanding critical scientific and social issues in global sustainable development. Specific areas of research include food security, energy systems, climate change, poverty reduction, disease, and environmental degradation. The Africa Oxford Initiative (AfOx) offers seven graduate scholarships for the 2027-28 MBA program at the University of Oxford. Scholarships are available for applicants who are African nationals, and who can demonstrate a commitment to Africa’s development. The Explorers Club — Impact Grants
The Explorers Club Impact Grants support individual researchers and explorers worldwide who conduct field-based scientific expeditions in disciplines such as ecology, earth sciences, anthropology, archaeology, paleontology, and astronomy—especially exploring regions experiencing environmental or cultural change. Stockholm Resilience Center — SwedBio Collaboration Program
The SwedBio Collaboration Program contributes to ideas, methods, and policies regarding how biodiversity, ecosystem services, and resilience help sustain livelihoods. SwedBio welcomes submissions of concept notes for project ideas. SwedBio contributes to shorter projects through a small-grants program (max. SEK 500 thousand). Preferred partners include regional and international network organizations; action-oriented research institutes; think-tank institutions; and civil society organizations based in developing countries. The Pollination Project — Animal Welfare Grants
The Pollination Project (TPP) supports individuals and groups who are working to protect farmed animals. TPP funds projects that aim to reduce the consumption of animals, advocate for farmed animal welfare, and raise awareness about farmed animal cruelty. The Pollination Project supports individuals and groups with US$1,000. Grants are open to anyone in the world, but applications from people in Brazil, India, and Mexico are especially welcome. World Oceans Day — Become a Young Ocean Leader
The World Oceans Day Youth Advisory Council needs 15 new young ocean leaders from around the world. The Council works closely with The Ocean Project and its global partner network to help shape the development of World Oceans Day. Members will develop projects and help to shape World Oceans Day. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites applications for story grants supporting in-depth reporting on how businesses in Thailand are responding to climate change. The grants aim to strengthen coverage of corporate climate action, emissions reduction, adaptation, sustainable finance, green technologies, and the transition to a low-carbon economy. Eligible applicants are journalists, editors, and media organizations based in Thailand with a proven record of environmental or business reporting. Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Media Workshop on Forest Governance
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites applications for a two-day virtual media workshop designed to strengthen reporting on forest governance, deforestation, community rights, sustainable forest management, and global forest policies. The workshop is open to journalists based in Ghana, Liberia, and Cameroon, as well as journalists from forest-risk commodity consumer markets in Europe and Asia (including the European Union, the United Kingdom, China, and India) who report on forest governance issues.
