Past projects have included topics in sustainable agriculture; energy conservation; environmental degradation; and reduced consumption. The Foundation funds UK organizations for projects to promote peace and sustainable security — and environmental sustainability — including for international projects. Eligibility extends to UK-registered charities and to organizations in other countries that work through UK-registered charities. The Institute of Current World Affairs (ICWA) makes grants to support fellows who carry out self-designed independent studies for a minimum of two years in the developing world. Fellows must hold the promise of enriching public life in the United States by enhancing the understanding of foreign countries, cultures and trends, therefore candidates must show strong and credible ties to U.S. society. Netherlands Enterprise Agency — Energy Transition Facility
The Energy Transition Facility (ETF) aims to support countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region) with their transition to a more sustainable energy supply. National governments can request advice and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency will decide how to best support the proposal, plan or idea. Proposals and requests for government-to-government collaboration can be submitted by governments and government partners in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Mozambique, the Palestinian Territories, Tanzania, and Tunisia. Student Energy Summit — Video Contest
The Student Energy Summit announces a video contest focused on the theme “Reimagining the Future with Renewable Energy.” The winners of the video contest will receive fully-funded participation in the Student Energy Summit 2023 in Abu Dhabi (November 2023). InfoNile — Editors’ Biodiversity Program
InfoNile invites applications from editors from Uganda for an editors’ biodiversity training program. In addition to training with biodiversity and journalism experts, the program will incorporate field visits to conservation projects and natural sites. The workshop will have a focus on reporting on wildlife trafficking and poaching. After the training, editors will pair up with reporters in their media houses to report an in-depth story on biodiversity and/or wildlife trafficking to be published in their media houses, supported by small story grants. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mountains of Central Asia
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites applications for small grants to promote biodiversity conservation in the Mountains of Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan). Small grants are a maximum of US$20 thousand. Project proposals should be built on biodiversity conservation as a fundamental component. The call is open to NGOs, community groups, cultural organizations, women’s groups, private companies and civil society organizations. Curtin University — PhD Stipends in Marine Bioacoustics
The Centre for Marine Science and Technology at Curtin University offers 4 PhD stipends in marine bioacoustics. The stipends are part of a 4-year research project entitled “The Quieter Western Indian Ocean” (QWIO). Each stipend includes an international tuition fee scholarship for 3.5 years. In addition, the stipend covers annual living costs (total €31 thousand). Students would ideally be citizens of Comoros, France, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, or South Africa. U.S. Mission to India — Environment-focused Short Film Contest and Festival
The U.S. Mission to India seeks to promote climate action by encouraging climate-conscious citizens to create films that spur wider awareness and inspire community action. Therefore, the U.S. Consulate General of Mumbai seeks a partner that will organize film-making workshops, a crowd-sourced film contest, and execute follow-on activities to involve youth and civil society in environment conservation. The estimated total project funding is US$40 thousand. Mahathir Science Award Foundation — Award for Tropical Sciences
The Mahathir Science Award recognizes scientists, institutions or organizations worldwide who have made contributions and innovations towards solving problems in the tropics through science and technology. This award accepts nominations in the following fields: Tropical Agriculture; Tropical Architecture and Engineering; Tropical Medicine; and Tropical Natural Resources.
