The Standards and Trade Development Facility (STDF) aims to increase the capacity of farmers, processors and traders in developing countries to implement international SPS standards to gain and maintain market access. The STDF seeks applications to improve its food safety, animal and plant health capacity. Grants are expected to help address particular challenges or issues that affect trade to international markets. Projects should have a maximum duration of three years, or less. The STDF offers grants of up to US$1 million for projects that promote compliance with international SPS requirements. Public and private sector entities as well as non-profit non-governmental organizations are eligible to apply. The deadlines to apply for funding in 2024 are 22 March and 09 August 2024. Details here

Earth Journalism Network — Training: Investigate Environmental Crimes
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) trains selected journalists in East Africa on techniques to investigate money laundering, fraud, bribery and corruption, trace assets, underground money movements and illicit payment methods. Applicants can be from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda or South Sudan. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio). Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency — Disaster Emergency Funding
The Caribbean Disaster Management Agency provides Country Directed Funds seeks to build the resilience of Caribbean states to disaster risks and climate change impacts. The Country Directed Fund consists of grants of up to a maximum of €60 thousand. National Disaster Management Offices and relevant national agencies responsible for CDM implementation from the following states may apply: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago. Azimuth World Foundation — Funding for Indigenous Peoples Grassroots Projects
The Azimuth World Foundation funds projects by grassroots Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities-led organizations aiming to improve access to health and to save water. The maximum grant amount is US$25 thousand. To be eligible for funding, organizations must have a USA tax-exempt status (501 (c)(3)) or a Fiscal Sponsor. Leading House Africa — Research Partnership Grant
Leading House Africa calls for applications from PhD students and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with a Swiss Institution of Higher Education to further develop and foster new collaborations between Swiss researchers and partners in Africa. Proposals from STEM fields, including biological sciences and medicine are accepted. The call will award a maximum of CHF 40 thousand per research collaboration project. Green Alley — Green Alley Award 2023
The Green Alley Award is an annual European prize for start-ups and entrepreneurs in the green economy. The award program focuses on business ideas that help build a circular economy and improve the waste and recycling industry. The contest finalists will be invited to Berlin to compete for a cash prize of €25 thousand, working space in Berlin for six months, and opportunities to raise additional funding. One Day’s Wages — Matching Grants
One Day’s Wages is a grassroots movement to alleviate extreme global poverty. Matching grants require partners to raise a portion of the grant funds, which are then matched by One Day’s Wages dollar for dollar. Matching grant requests from first-time partners is US$5,000 – US$30 thousand. Projects must fit within one or more of ODW’s focus areas, which include Climate Impact, and Water & Sanitation, among others. Applicants must be a registered non-governmental nonprofit organization. Partnership for Forests — Innovative Partnerships in Forestry
Partnership for Forests promotes partnerships among governments, civil society, and private enterprises to address deforestation and improve livelihoods by investing in forests and sustainable land use in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The program provides a combination of grants and technical assistance to help selected partnerships move towards commercial scale-up. Grants normally range from £10 thousand to £1 million. Applicants should provide matched funding of at least 25%. InfoNile — University Science Communication Competition for Africa
InfoNile has organized a science communication competition that aims to engage university students in Africa to understand the critical role of conserving swamps and their biodiversity. The competition aims to foster environmental awareness and empower young scientists and conservationists in Africa to take action for swamps. Eligibility extends to teams of 2-3 university students, one from communication or journalism and a science student.
