Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. The international training program “Climate Change – Mitigation and Adaptation” has a strong focus on agriculture and water resources, planning and communication of climate information. The course is designed for individuals who have key positions in organizations related to national, regional or local community planning, and who are actively involved in strategic decision making. Participants have to be nominated by government organizations, private companies or NGOs in Kenya, Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia, or Zimbabwe. The training program consists of three compulsory phases. Phase 1 will take place in Mozambique (March 2021), Phase 2 will take place in Sweden (April 2021), Phase 3 will take place in Eastern and/or Southern Africa (September 2021). Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship West Africa
The Young Water Fellowship targets young entrepreneurs. Selected Fellows will be invited to participate in a 10-days training workshop in Ivory Coast. The workshop aims to empower its participants to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. All training costs (flights, transportation, accommodation, meals) are covered by the organization. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, be fluent in French, intend to stay in Ivory Coast for at least 1.5 years after the training and spend at least 15 hours per week to work on their social business. British Council — Newton Workshop Grants for Researchers
Newton Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. Subject areas for the workshops vary by partner country to include agriculture, climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, and several others. The Newton Fund provides funding for international development-relevant research workshops up to £50 thousand. The current call is open for bilateral workshops between the UK with either of China, India, or the Philippines. Proposals must be joint applications, with one coordinator based at a UK institution and one based in a partner country. The application deadline is 12 June 2020. The Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The current call is for bilateral workshops of 3-4 days. The maximum funding per workshop in the UK/Russia is £51,940. Proposals must be joint applications by non-profit organizations, with one coordinator based at a UK institution and one based in Russia. The application deadline is 12 June 2020. Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. The program has a strong focus on agriculture and water resources, planning and communication of climate information. Organizations in Kenya, Sudan, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe are invited to nominate candidates for the Advanced International Training Programme “Climate change – Mitigation and Adaptation.” Sida will cover the costs of the program fee and required literature as well as accommodation, meals, health insurance, and international travel. Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research — Travel Support to Attend Meetings and Conferences
The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) provides travel support for scientists from low- to medium-income countries to attend ocean science meetings. The purpose of this support is to help scientists, particularly early-career scientists, to network with colleagues from other countries, share their research, and form partnerships in the global ocean science community. One Young World — Entrepreneur of the Year Award
The One Young World Summit seeks startups and entrepreneurs with solutions to the world’s most pressing issues, including climate change and the challenges of globalization. Applicants can be of any nationality but must be between 18-35 years old. Five winners will receive a fully funded trip to participate in the One Young World Summit in Munich (Germany) in October 2020. Climate Tracker — Opportunity for Journalists from the Philippines
Climate Tracker seeks 15 journalists from across the Philippines for a three-day workshop on climate justice reporting. Climate Tracker will make 5 travel grants for deserving applicants to attend the workshop. One participating journalist will be selected for a fully-funded trip to Germany, to cover the UN climate talks in June. Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from relevant organizations and agencies in Eastern and Southern Africa. Invitations are open to applicants for the Advanced International Training Programme “Mine Water and Mine Waste Management.” The overall objective of this program is to develop a sustainable use of natural resources and to secure safe living environments for future generations. U.S. Department of State — Air Quality Management in Central Asia
The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, U.S. State Department, announces the “Building Air Quality Management Capacity in Central Asia” program. The project targets government entities with the intend to strengthen regulatory and monitoring capacity of government actors and expand awareness of air quality issues in Central Asian countries. The program intends to provide US$296,296 in funding to be used for the production of educational materials, expert workshops, and the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan to be used by key agencies. Countries eligible for funding under this award include: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
