UN Trust Fund — End Violence against Women

The UN Trust Fund seeks proposals for initiatives to end violence against women and girls. Projects supported include projects in climate change-affected areas, and projects focused on protecting and empowering women living in rural areas. Grants are between US$150 thousand to US$1 million for four years. The UN Trust Fund only accepts applications from civil society organizations and women’s rights organizations with a track record of working on the elimination of violence against women and girls. International Women’s Media Foundation — Reporting Grants for Women Journalists

The Howard G. Buffett Fund for Women Journalists seeks to promote the work and advance the role of women in the news media across the globe. The average grant size is US$10 thousand. The grant is intended to give women journalists the opportunity to pursue international stories of importance through gender-sensitive coverage of underreported topics. (Note: This may include various focus areas of the Terra Viva Grants Directory, i.e., women in agriculture, or stories about and by female conservationists.) Iridescent — Technology Entrepreneurship Program for Girls

Technovation invites teams of girls from all over the world to learn and apply the skills needed to solve real-world problems through technology. Girls work with women mentors, find a problem in their community and develop a mobile app to launch a startup. Categories may include environment, poverty, health, and others. U.S Agency for International Development — Locally Led Development Initiative LAC

The Locally Led Development Initiative seeks to increase sustainability and impact in the areas of regional environmental and sustainable growth; women’s empowerment, and climate change. Concept notes should propose programs implemented in two or more of the following Amazon Basin countries: Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Suriname. Funding ranges from US$250 thousand to US$2.5 million. USAID welcomes concepts from local and regional entities who have a solid understanding of the development challenges facing their communities. U.S Agency for International Development — Climate Gender Equity Fund

The Climate Gender Equity Fund (CGEF) aims to increase access to finance for community-based organizations that advances gender equitable climate action. The Fund seeks climate- and gender-smart fund managers and entrepreneur networks aiming to unlock capital for long-term and systemic change. Organizations may propose to use grant funding for a variety of purposes including building their own capacity to provide gender-smart and gender transformative climate finance. CGEF is targeting grant awards of US$100 thousand to US$300 thousand, but will consider grants up to US$500 thousand. The application deadline is 06 October 2023. Climate Gender Equity Fund

Africa Women Leaders in Agro-ecology — Mentorship Program

AWOLA (Africa Women Leaders in Agro-ecology) is a leadership career development initiative with the aim of equipping women working on agroecology, sustainable agriculture and food systems with leadership skills. The 3-year leadership program aims to create women leadership to transform and influence policies and programs across African countries. AWOLA will support mentees through virtual and face-to-face training sessions and fundraising efforts. The fellowship targets current citizens of Kenya, Zimbabwe and Uganda with experience in agriculture or working on agro-based livelihoods with farming communities. United States Agency for International Development — Nepali Women in Business

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement USAID Nepali Women in Business. Eligibility for this award is limited to local organizations. The total estimated amount is anticipated at US$9.5 million. Clean Cooking Alliance — Women in Clean Cooking

The Women in Clean Cooking (WICC) Program aims at providing professional development and mentorship support for early to mid-career women in the clean cooking sector in Africa, Asia, and Haiti. The program offers virtual webinars, networking opportunities, and peer-to-peer exchange. Applicants must be senior professionals from the clean cooking and energy sector. Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research — Women’s Collective Action in Agri-food Systems

The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) aims to support a research project aimed at generating evidence on women’s collective action in agri-food systems from MENA and South Asia. International Union of Forest Research Organizations — Grants for Female Early-Career Scientist

The International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) offers a limited number of grants of up to €5 thousand for short scientific visits for female early-career scientists affiliated with IUFRO organizations to visit a forest research organization overseas. The specific duration of the scientific visits will be dependent on the complexity of the proposed projects. Potential applicants are required to contact the potential host organization prior to applying for a grant. Together they shall develop a project proposal and work plan.
