U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Combating the Trafficking of Marine Turtles in East and Southeast Asia

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service provides financial assistance to strategic projects that conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife and plants and their habitats though combating the trafficking of marine turtles in East and Southeast Asia. Projects under this call should address the trafficking of hawksbill turtles in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China. Applicants may request up to US$500 thousand in project funding. Eligibility extends to governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, universities and individuals. U.S. Department of State — Youth Leadership Program with Burma

The Office of Citizen Exchanges announces an open competition to conduct a four-week U.S.-based exchange program for teenagers and adult educators. The activities for each program will focus on civic education, community engagement and prepare participants to conduct projects at home that serve a community need. Applicants should plan to provide U.S.-based programming for 17-18 youth and 2-3 adult participants from Burma. Applicants may request up to US$190 thousand in project funding. Amigos da Jubarte — Photography and Arts Contest

The Amigos da Jubarte Project is a non-profit initiative focusing on humpback whale conservation and sustainable tourism for habitat protection in Espírito Santo, Brazil. The Project invites submissions for its first photography contest entitled “Where is the Whale?”. Categories are: Whales, Creatures of the Sea, The Ocean, Making Of, Videos, and Illustrations and Arts. The winners of each category will receive non-cash awards. The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden (USA) makes grants for field conservation; habitat management; conservation education; ex situ captive breeding; animal health and welfare; and other themes in wildlife research and conservation. The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) offers website aimed at increasing participation in conservation efforts for Monarch butterfly conservation. Farmers, landowners and the general public can explore opportunities to receive financial support to create and/or preserve monarch habitat in Canada, Mexico and the United States. International Center for Journalists — Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge

The Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge supports projects that produce and distribute high-quality content to combat biased or false information. This includes stories and initiatives about global health or climate change. The program offers grants of between US$5 thousand and US$100 thousand to applicants proposing innovative projects to provide information to Russian-speaking populations in Eurasia. World Bank — Support for Women Micro-Entrepreneurs

The World Bank Group invites applications for the “Sustainable Development Goals and Her Competition”. SDGs & Her is an online competition for women micro-entrepreneurs to showcase how they are supporting the SDGs through their business operations. Winners will receive leadership training, mentoring and will be flown to Washington DC, for an event at the World Bank Group-IMF Spring Meetings (April 2019). Youth for Wildlife Conservation Forum — Participant Application 2019

Youth for Wildlife Conservation Forum is scheduled to take place prior to and during the 18th conservation policy-making convention “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” (CITES CoP) in Colombo, Sri Lanka (20th-28th May, 2019). Y4WC focuses on finding solutions to wildlife conservation issues, empowering early-career conservationists and developing the skills and networks of future conservation leaders. Interested conservationists (aged between 18 and 30 years) may sent an application to attend the in-person forum and CITES CoP. Travel and participation costs are covered by Y4WC. Earth Journalism Network — Environmental Reporting in the Asia-Pacific

The EJN makes media grants to strengthen the capacity of local and regional organizations to produce more high-quality stories that cover climate change, the environment and natural resource-management issues. The typical grant will be for up to US$20 thousand and support a one-year project. This grant program accepts applications from media organizations, civil society organizations and academic institutions throughout Asia and the Pacific. UNDP and UNESCO — Writing Competition for Young Journalists

UNDP and UNESCO jointly launch the “IATI Research Challenge for Journalists” – a research and writing competition for journalists around the world aged between 15 and 25. Journalists should investigate how their country (or a country of their choice) is progressing towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goals and explore how funds for development are being utilised.
