Each year, the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) co-operates with a national organisation that arranges a national Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) competition. SJWP is open for projects striving to improve water quality, water resources management, water protection, water and wastewater treatment. The competition is open to young people between the ages of 15 and 20. The winner receives US$15 thousand, a crystal sculpture, a diploma as well as the stay in Stockholm during the World Water Week. Royal Bank of Canada — Environmental Donations (Water & Climate Action)
RBC Environmental donations aim to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water while simultaneously supporting initiatives in the area of climate action to protect vulnerable communities. RBC funds initiatives that support the sustainable management and protection of water or projects that help combat climate change and its impacts. Most grants are up to $5 thousand. Global Environment Facility — Small Grants Programme: Papua New Guinea
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) invites proposals from environmental oriented organizations for community actions and initiatives that aid benefit vulnerable communities and support efforts on sustainable development. Focal areas are (1) Biodiversity Conservation; (2) Protection of Water Resources; (3) Climate Change; (4) Sustainable Forestry Management; and (5) Pollution. Grants are up to US$50 thousand for a total duration of 24 months. Concept papers are invited from non-governmental organizations and local community-based organizations. U.S. Embassy Cameroon — Funding for Community Projects
The U.S. Embassy in Yaounde (Cameroon) seeks proposals for small-scale community projects that address one or more of the following areas: Social Services; Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); Income Generating Activities; Environment and Agriculture. Proposed projects have to benefit a large number of people and increase income or improve living conditions of local communities. Grants range from US$2 thousand to US$10 thousand. The Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund is limited to locally registered non-profits with at least two years of experience working in Cameroon. Applications have to be submitted by 30 April 2019. Drucker Institute — Drucker Prize 2019
The Drucker Institute invites nominations for the Drucker Prize 2019. The prize recognizes innovative non-profit organizations that inspire “change that creates a new dimension of performance”. The winning organization will receive a US$100 thousand prize. Past winners include projects in the field of sustainable energy, small-scale agriculture, rainforest conservation, and many others. Society for International Development — Andrew E. Rice Award 2019
The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation recognizes the achievements of an exceptional young professional working in the field of international development. Past winners include field research on agriculture strategies and the creation of low-cost digital games that inspire social change. Candidates must be between 22 to 32 years old and have at least two years of experience in international development in developing countries. The winner will receive US$1,000. Grassroots Justice Prize — Legal Empowerment for Communities
The Grassroots Justice Prize recognizes grassroots institutions across the globe that are working to put the power of law into people’s hands. Three awards, each of US$10 thousand, are available to non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and public institutions that focus on legal empowerment to tackle poverty, injustice, or other social problems. The 11th international “Water & Health” seminar will take place from 24 to 26 June 2019 in Cannes (France). Students are invited to apply for the SUEZ “Water & Health” prize. Securing Water for Food — Summer Research Project
Securing Water for Food seeks master-level students or master-level graduates to act as field evaluators to conduct in-country, field research with SWFF in Ethiopia, India, Uganda, Bangladesh or South Africa. SWFF is looking for candidates that have the skills and interest in gathering qualitative and quantitative data from farmers and other stakeholders in emerging market economies. Selected applicants will receive a roundtrip airfare to and from the country of destination, a stipend of US$2,500 to cover trip expenses and another US$2,500 payment after submission of final deliverables. European Union — Danube Transnational Programme
The EU’s Danube Transnational Programme offers financial support to transnational projects contributing to the development of the Danube region. The Programme covers 9 EU member states and 5 non-member states (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine). Themes include water management, flood prevention, natural heritage, energy, among others. The duration of projects must not exceed 30 months with available funds varying according to priority area. The lead applicant must be an international or private non-profit organizations. Project partners can be private enterprises. Project partners must co-finance a minimum of 15% of total project costs.
