The European Environment Agency (EEA) organises a photo competition to raise awareness about environmental issues related to water topics. This year’s competition WaterPIX focuses on the importance of clean water for all living beings. The winners in each category (Water and me, Water in the nature, and Water in the economy) will be awarded a cash prize of €1000. OneAfricanChild Foundation — Small Grants for Youth Changemakers
The OneAfricanChild Foundation and Peace First support projects from young social entrepreneurs (13-25 years) in the themes of education, environment, gender equality, social inclusion, health, and technology. The small grants of US$250 are intended to help bring positive change to local communities. Eligibility extends to individuals from Nigeria, Kenya, Benin Republic or Cameroon. International Women’s Media Foundation — African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative
The IWMF created the African Great Lakes Reporting Initiative (AGLRI) to provide training and support for female in-country journalists from the Central African Republic, Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. The aim is to provide necessary funding to independent journalists to cover under-reported issues including issues of empowerment, democracy, food security, and conservation efforts. Australian Government — Direct Aid Program Africa
The Australian Government seeks applications for its Direct Aid Program (DAP) 2018/2019. DAP supports small-scale sustainable development projects and activities in the fields of agriculture; water and sanitation; environment/conservation; and others. The High Commission accepts project proposals from Benin, Cameroon, Gabon, Gambia, Niger and Nigeria. Funding of up to AUD60 thousand is available to community groups, NGOs, private sector entities, academic institutions, or other organisations engaged in development activities on a not-for-profit basis. World Academy of Sciences — Postgraduate Fellowships in Natural Sciences in Pakistan
The TWAS-CIIT Fellowship Programme offers fellowships to young scientists from developing countries who wish to obtain all or part of their PhD in natural sciences. CIIT will provide a monthly stipend which should be used to cover living costs such as food, accommodation, and health insurance. APEC Climate Center — Climate Change Training Program
The APEC Climate Center (APCC) accepts applications for a training program with the subject of user-oriented statistical downscaling of climate change scenarios for agriculture and water resources to be held in Korea (15-20 October 2018). The 1-week training program aims to provide information and technical support for better regional planning and reduction of economic losses caused by adverse climate conditions. Scientists and working level staff from national research institutes in agriculture and/or water-related fields in developing countries, preferably APEC economies, are invited to apply. Siemens Stiftung — Empowering People Award 2019
Siemens Stiftung sponsors the “empowering people. Award” as a means to identify and showcase relatively simple and smart technological solutions that have business potential to combat poverty in developing and emerging countries. The categories include water and waste water; energy; food and agriculture; waste management; and several others. The products or solutions to be submitted have to already be in use. The competition is open to any individual, team, organization, or enterprise from any region in the world. The top three prizes are €50 thousand, €30 thousand, and €20 thousand, respectively. Arab Council for the Social Sciences — Research Grants 2019-2020
The Arab Council for the Social Sciences announces the fifth cycle of its research grants program on the theme of “Environmentalism, Impoverishment, and Social Justice Movements: Interdisciplinary Perspectives”. The research should focus primarily on Arab societies, with priority given to researchers residing in the Arab region. Grants of up to US$20 thousand will be available to individual researchers; research teams can apply for up to US$50 thousand. Grants are intended to support a maximum timeline of 18 months. Scottish Government — International Development Small Grants 2019
The Scottish Government’s International Development Small Grants Programme provides project funding in support of the government’s International Development Policy. Applications for grants are invited from incorporated not-for-profit organisations which have a presence in Scotland and an annual turnover of less than £200 thousand. Project grants should focus on any of Malawi, Rwanda, or Zambia in themes of food security; renewable energy; climate change; water; and others. Grants for capacity building and feasibility studies will be accepted in relation to any country designated as medium/low on the UN’s Human Development Index — but with priority for Malawi, Rwanda, and Zambia. Awards are a maximum of £60 thousand for project grants over three years, or a maximum of £10 thousand for feasibility and capacity building grants over one year. Tata Trusts — Travel Grants for Indians
The Tata Trusts supports philanthropic initiatives in the fields of water, energy, rural development, and others. The Tata Trusts Travel Grant scheme provides partial travel assistance to professionals and other employed people to enhance their professional or work-related skills through relevant training programmes and workshops.
