United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change — Water Changemaker Awards 2023
Water Changemaker Awards is a global initiative that aims to recognize high-level commitment and leadership for climate resilient water investments to support a water-secure world. The initiative promotes the most promising climate resilient innovations to enable them to access new and innovative finance sources. Selected Water Changemakers will receive technical assistance and seed funding to scale up their innovations. Entities are eligible if they have been operating for at least one year. Korea International Water Week — World Water Challenge 2023
The World Water Challenge is an international contest for water solutions. The Korea International Water Week (KIWW) aims to discover imminent water problems and to find feasible solutions. Participants are asked to select a water challenge (identified in the call) and submit their solution. The total prize amount for the World Water Challenge 2023 is KRW 10 million (approx. US$7,600). Winners will have the chance to be invited to the WWCH showcase during the KIWW 2024 and/or the 10th World Water Forum. Individuals or organizations are welcome to participate. East-West Center — Asia Pacific Leadership Program 2024
The Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) invites individuals with a demonstrated commitment to promoting peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region to apply for a 9-month program of leadership training and professional development on emerging issues. Inter-disciplinary interests at the East-West Center include climate change, land use, water and energy demands, etc., — among other social and environmental themes. MDPI — Remote Sensing Travel Award 2024
MDPI, a publisher of peer-reviewed, open access journals, invites applications for the 2024 Remote Sensing Travel Awards. Remote Sensing will make two awards of CHF800 each to two selected PhD students to present an oral presentation and/or poster at an international conference in 2024. Applicants must be postdoctoral researchers or Ph.D. students working in the field of remote sensing or related areas. Applications have to be submitted by 30 November 2023. Click here
Charles Hayward Foundation — Livelihoods Support in Africa
The Charles Hayward Foundation funds charitable programs and projects that improve the livelihoods of disadvantaged communities in the Commonwealth countries of Africa. The Foundation accepts applications from UK charities. Projects should focus at the grassroots level with proven local partners. Categories for support include water and sanitation; capacity building in agriculture and income-generating activities; and health. Grants are up to £15 thousand. Fund for Innovation in Development — Grant Program
The Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) supports innovation that contributes to reducing global poverty and inequality. FID encourages applications for solutions in education, health, climate change, and gender equality in all low- and middle-income countries. Nearly any type of applicant is eligible to apply, including researchers, governments, NGOs and for-profit companies. FID makes five types of grants: Prepare Grants (up to €50 thousand) can be used to support the development of projects and proposals; Pilot Grants (up to €200 thousand) support the piloting of innovations that are early in development and need real-world testing; Scale Grants (up to €1,5 million) support the further testing and continued growth of innovations; Transition to Scale Grants (up to €4 million) support the transition of rigorously tested and validated solutions to widespread scaling; and Transforming Public Policy Grants (up to €150 thousand) support specific evidence-based innovations with demonstrated cost-effectiveness and scalability into public policies. Social Shifters — Global Innovation Challenge
Social Shifters announces the Global Innovation Challenge to help young leaders and founders to solve the social or environmental issues that matter to them. The challenge seeks creative ideas, projects, and business solutions to the problems that matter to local communities and welcomes ideas from anywhere in the world. Participants compete for awards of up to US$10 thousand to deliver activities that improve lives, help communities, and protect the planet. Both ENDS — JWH Initiative
The Joke Waller-Hunter (JWH) Initiative offers grants to advance the leadership of young individuals working for or affiliated with environmental civil society organizations in developing and emerging countries. JWH especially encourages the nomination of young women and local community leaders. Grants range from €2,500 to €7,000. The next nomination deadline is 15 September 2023. Details here
