British Council — Researcher Links Workshops, UK/Turkey

Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. UK and Turkish Institutions can request up to £40 thousand to be used towards workshop implementation. All workshops must be held in 2019. Each proposal must have one Principal Applicant from the UK and one Principal Applicant from Turkey. The submission deadline is 17 September 2018. Link

Smogathon — Technology to Fight Air Pollution

Smogathon aims to fight air pollution through technology. Start-ups will compete for $15 thousand in cash and a contract to implement their innovation in Krakow, Poland. Smogathon welcomes participation from any group worldwide that works as a registered company, start-up, foundation, or research group with a legal entity. The finalists will compete in Krakow during the Global Clean Air Summit in November 2018. The deadline for applications is 15 July 2018. Link

U.S. Department of State — Fisheries Management and Governance

The U.S. Bureau of Oceans – Int. Environmental – Scientific (OES) makes cooperative agreements to support fisheries management and governance in U.S. FTA countries. Projects should focus on improving the science-based management of fisheries; monitoring measures to ensure compliance with fisheries regulations; and combating illegal fishing. OES will award one cooperative agreement of up to US$500 thousand or two cooperative agreements of up to US$250 thousand each. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Towards a Sustainable Earth

The UK Natural Environment Research Council and funding partners invite proposals for the Towards a Sustainable Earth (TaSE) initiative, which aims to improve our understanding of the complex interactions between people and the environment required to make progress in achieving the United Nations Global Goals (Sustainable Development Goals). Applicants are invited to submit multilateral collaborative research proposals comprising eligible researchers from a minimum of three nations (Eligible funding agencies can be found in the call for proposals). US Department of State — Small Grants for Environmental Protection

The U.S. Department of State announces calls for proposals for its project entitled “Small Grants – Public Participation in Environmental Protection”. The project will be implemented in Chile, Colombia, Peru, Morocco, and Jordan. The purpose of this project is to increase civil society engagement in environmental protection and promote public participation in environmental decision-making. OES/EQT will award one cooperative agreement for up to US$500 thousand covering both Middle East and South America regions or two cooperative agreements for up to US$250 thousand each. Eligibility is limited to non-profit/NGOs subject to section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. tax code, foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Peruvian Glacial Retreat

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Consejo Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Tecnológica, Perú (CONCYTEC), invite proposals for a new collaborative Research Programme on Peruvian glacial retreat and its impact on water security and resilience to natural hazards. Applicants can request up to £500 thousand for the UK component of a project and up to S/ 1.5 million for the Peruvian component. Projects can be a maximum of 34 months in duration. Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations — Sustainable Forestry in Mozambique

The FAO-EU FLEGT Programme invites applications from governmental institutions, civil society and private sector organizations that contribute to the reduction of illegal logging and strengthen the trade of legal forest products through improved forest governance in Mozambique. Belmont Forum — Big Data for Environmental Change

The Belmont Forum launches a 4-year competitive call for projects on Science-driven e-Infrastructure Innovation (SEI) for the Enhancement of Transnational, Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Data Use in Environmental Change. Project teams must involve national research teams based in at least three different countries (Brazil, China, France, Japan, and USA). Small and large projects are welcome. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Latin American Biodiversity Programme

NERC invites proposals under the Latin American Biodiversity Programme. The Programme aims to provide trans-regional understanding of the role of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Applicants are invited to submit multilateral collaborative research proposals comprising eligible UK-based researchers and at least two participating LATAM countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile or Peru). Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation — City Region Food Systems

The SDC calls for proposals for innovations in city region food systems that can reach millions of people living in poverty. The proposed projects under this call should focus on small and middle-sized towns (market towns) in developing countries. Eligibility extends to local or international institutions.
