U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Conservation of Rhinos and Tigers 2019

As part of its program “Wildlife Without Borders,” the USFWS makes grants for the conservation of selected wildlife species, including rhinos and tigers. Grants are for applied research, training, conservation management, community outreach, law enforcement, decreased human-wildlife conflicts, and other activities in conservation. Eligibility extends worldwide to qualified and relevant government agencies, business, non-profits, academic institutions, and individuals. U.S. National Academy of Sciences — Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research, Cycle 8

PEER invites scientists in developing countries to work with U.S. collaborators in research and capacity building on priority topics that include environmental contaminants, agricultural productivity and food security, biodiversity conservation, water security, low-carbon development, fisheries assessments, and others. The priorities are different for each PEER focus area (i.e., varying by regions and countries). Applicants must be based at academic institutions, non-profit organizations, or government-managed research laboratories, centers, or institutes in the eligible countries. Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas Network — Grants for Small Projects

MedPAN launches a new call for small projects to support Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in the Mediterranean. The grants will reinforce the management of MPAs from the perspective of integrated coastal zone management and sustainable financing. They will also promote habitat mapping and the protection of marine turtles. The eligible countries are Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Monaco, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania. British Council — Researcher Links Workshops, UK/Russia

Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. UK and Russian Institutions can request up to £51 thousand to be used towards workshop implementation. All workshops must be held in 2019. Each proposal must have one Principal Applicant from the UK and one Principal Applicant from Russia. The submission deadline is 30 November 2018. Details here

SeaWorld and Busch Gardens — Grants for Wildlife Conservation, Research, and Education

The SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Conservation Fund makes grants for wildlife conservation, research, and education. The Fund has 4 major focus areas: species research, habitat protection, conservation education, and animal rescue and rehabilitation. Applications are accepted from non-profit organizations, government entities, and schools and universities in the USA and other countries. Most grants are under US$50 thousand. National Geographic Society — Science Communication

The National Geographic Society seeks proposals addressing environmental issues by communicating science. The NGS seeks proposals from around the world that advance the science of nature communication by systematically testing visual communication and education methods. The call is intended for visual artists, photographers, and videographers who aim to more effectively create and use images or video to overcome apathy towards species and ecosystems. The National Geographic Society seeks proposals from around the world that will engage students and other citizen scientists in activities to address real world problems and lead to actions in science and conservation. Applicants should design and/or implement tools that support citizen science work, particularly data collection or data analysis. The National Geographic Society seeks proposals from around the world that will advance innovative conservation technologies to explore, visualize, and protect the planet. Priority will be given to projects that use multi-sensor monitoring systems, advance surveillance/alarm systems for protected areas, or develop new tools and capabilities needed to generate data. RUFORUM — Community Action Research Programme 2018/2019

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), in partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, seeks applications for the programme “Transforming African Agricultural Universities to meaningfully contribute to Africa’s growth and development (TAGDev)”. TAGDev’s Community Action Research Programme aims to extend university activities to work more closely with rural communities. Funding of up to US$300 thousand is available for a period of 3-4 years. The programme focuses on crops and livestock value chains of strategic importance in Zambia, South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana and Namibia. France Libertés – Danielle Mitterrand Foundation — Water and Climate

France Libertés – Danielle Mitterrand Foundation launches a call for proposals about the positive impact people can have on the link between the cycle of water and climate. The Foundation will support projects which work to return water to the earth to restore the climate, in order to guarantee water access and to encourage its sustainable management. For this purpose, grants of between € 8 thousand and €12 thousand can be requested. Any non-profit organisation (including local communities, universities, research institutes, and trade unions) is welcome to apply. Applications have to be submitted by 26 October 2018.
