Enel Grids — Safeguarding Biodiversity from Electric Distribution Assets

Enel Grids seeks collaboration partners to provide an innovative approach that will safeguard biodiversity prior to the installation of electric distribution assets (overhead electrical lines and/or substations). Participants should propose innovative strategies that minimize the effect on biodiversity and promote its protection during the installation of electric infrastructure. European Commission — Sustainable Algae-based Solutions

The European Commission (EC) invites innovative and sustainable algae-based solutions and products for uses such as human consumption, animal feed, wastewater treatment, or applications for agriculture to the market. Projects require multi-stakeholder engagements with active participation from academia, organizations, citizens, civil society, start-ups, SMEs and other businesses. Applicants must be established in the Member States of the European Union or low- and middle-income countries. Applications have to be submitted by 27 September 2022. Details here

Prince Albert II Foundation — Forest Conservation through Local and Indigenous Action

The Prince Albert II Foundation calls for project proposals on forest conservation through the action of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities. The foundation seeks to support conservation of forest ecosystems through the action of indigenous peoples and local communities in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, South and Southeast Asia, and Pacific islands. Projects should focus on the conservation of high ecological value areas and follow a holistic approach to preserve all elements that make up these natural ecosystems and the biodiversity they contain; fauna, flora, soil, air, human beings. Any financial support requested should not exceed 50% of the total project budget. The Foundation makes grants to civil society organizations, international organizations, private enterprises, and government organizations. Pre-applications will be accepted until 30 June 2022. Prince Albert II Foundation — Strengthen Arctic and Antarctic Marine Protected Areas

The Prince Albert II Foundation accepts applications to strengthen Arctic and Antarctic marine protected areas. The Foundation seeks to better understand climate-induced changes and how these changes affect the global social, economic and environmental systems and double the efforts to protect these fragile ecosystems. Project proposals must focus on the Arctic and Antarctic marine region. Any financial support requested should not exceed 50% of the total project budget. The Prince Albert II Foundation calls for projects on the implementation of nature-based solutions that promote coastal resilience to climate change and biodiversity loss. Priority geographic areas under this call are the Mediterranean region, Polar regions, and Least Developed Countries. Any financial support requested should not exceed 50% of the total project budget. Greater Mekong Subregion Secretariat — Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability

The Greater Mekong Subregion Secretariat invites applications to the Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability Program (CCESP). The program’s six priority themes are climate and disaster resilience, low-carbon transitions, climate-smart landscapes, environmental quality through pollution control and sustainable waste management, digital technology for climate actions and environmental sustainability, and financing low-carbon and climate-resilient infrastructure and technology. The program plans to have 27 demonstrations. Each demonstration project will have a budget of US$40 thousand. The proposals can be developed and submitted by government departments and agencies, civil society organizations and community-based organizations, private sector, as well as academia and research institutes. L’Oréal — Beyond Plastic Challenge

L’Oréal seeks innovators who can provide plastic free biomaterial solutions that enable plastic free packaging. The Beyond Plastic Challenge is open to established companies, startups, universities and technical centers or laboratories. International Development Research Centre — Strengthening Research in West Africa

The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) calls for proposals to support the strengthening of national research and innovation funding agencies in West Africa. The Science Granting Councils Initiative invites proposals from organizations (including think tanks, institutes, universities and agencies) based in Africa Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal and Sierra Leone. Organizations should have proven experience and track records in areas such as public sector science, technology and innovation; strengthening organizational capacity; and national science, among others. U.S. Department of State — Air Quality Management in Africa

The U.S. Department of State announces the “Air Quality Management Community of Practice in Africa” program. The program seeks to build a regional community of practice to convene air quality experts to create knowledge and develop best practices to improve air quality monitoring and expand awareness. The total funding is US$440 thousand for a period of performance of up to 36 months. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public international organizations. The application deadline is 04 August 2022. Swedish Institute — Academic Collaboration in the Baltic Sea Region

The Swedish Institute offers funding to Swedish universities, for projects together with their partners in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. The aim is to strengthen the capacity for internationalization within higher education and research. The program offers two types of project funding, Seed Funding of SEK 100-300 thousand for projects with a duration of up to 12 months, and Collaboration Funding of up to SEK 1 million for the duration of 18 months. The main applicant to SI must represent a Swedish university, but the application should be prepared jointly together in the partnership. Applications can be submitted until 30 September 2022. About
