The Swedish Agency for Development Cooperation (Sida) seeks applications for its Planning Grants program. Grants are awarded to help entrepreneurs explore new markets and research their technology’s impact on the environment and poverty reduction. The programme’s emphasis is on cleantech products, systems, processes, and services in the following focus areas: climate change adaptation/mitigation; ecosystem services; renewable energy; water and sanitation; and urban development. Eligibility extends to companies or organisations based in Kenya, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Bolivia, Colombia, Guatemala, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. Belmont Forum — Research for Ocean Sustainability
The Belmont Forum calls for global partnerships of academics and non-academics to address conservation and the sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development. This call aims to support medium-size research projects with a direction of three to four years, with a recommended budget of up to €1.5 million. Research consortia must include at least three participating partner organizations established in three different countries to be eligible under this call. Participating countries are: Brazil, France, Germany, Iceland, India, Japan, Philippines, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sweden, USA, Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Comoros and Madagascar. The European Union accepts proposals for the program “Support to Local Initiatives to Strengthen Agricultural Advisory Services and Local Food Promotion”. The aim of the program is to improve availability, affordability and sustainability of the agricultural advisory services and harness the market potential of local food. The estimated contribution per project is between €500 thousand and €1 million. The Eurasia Media Innovation Challenge supports projects that produce and distribute high-quality content to combat biased or false information. This includes stories and initiatives about global health or climate change. Researcher Links Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and a partner country to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. UK and Russian Institutions can request up to £51 thousand to be used towards workshop implementation. All workshops must be held in 2019. Interreg Baltic Sea Region — Project Platform Calls
Interreg Baltic Sea Region financially supports frameworks for cooperation of core partners of projects funded by Interreg Baltic Sea Region. Project platforms must be in line with the thematic priorities of the Programme: (1) Innovation, (2) Natural Resources, (3) Transport. The Programme area covers eight EU Member States (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, parts of Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden) and three partner countries (Belarus, Norway and parts of Russia). European Union — Kolarctic Cross-Border Cooperation
Kolarctic supports cross-border strategies between Russia, Finland, Sweden, and Norway in the Barents region of the Arctic. Projects may include issues related to environment and natural resources (e.g., fisheries, plant resources, climate change, etc.). Each proposal must have at least one actor from the EU (Sweden, Finland) and at least one from Russia. India Department of Science and Technology — Indo-Belarus Joint Research Programme
The India Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the State Committee of Scientific Research of Belarus invite joint R&D project proposals from scientists & technologists. Focus areas include energy; biotechnology; agrotechnology and food security; and clean technology for environment; among others. The funding will cover research expenses and exchange of visits for research projects. Research projects should be carried out jointly by research teams from India and Belarus. The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to interact and explore research collaborations. The workshop ‘Sustainable Energy and Climate Change in Russia: policies, discourses and narratives’ will provide an opportunity for sharing research expertise and networking. During the workshop, Early Career Researchers will have the opportunity to present their research.
