Centre for the Study of Biodiversity in Amazonia — Call for Proposals 2022

The Centre for the Study of Biodiversity in Amazonia (CEBA) is a French Laboratory of Excellence based in French Guiana to foster knowledge on terrestrial biodiversity in Amazonia. CEBA coordinates research capacity in France on the topic of Amazonian terrestrial biodiversity. Proposed projects must work towards a co-construction of projects between CEBA’s scientific teams and civil society organizations in order to encourage these synergies and promote a more direct transfer of knowledge from science to society. Association of Zoos and Aquariums — Conservation Grants Fund 2022

The AZA’s Conservation Grants Fund makes grants for animal health; animal welfare; conservation education; field conservation and/or reintroduction; management and/or breeding; and research. The principal investigator in a grants application must be an AZA member. Many grants are awarded to collaborations among AZA-accredited institutions; government wildlife agencies; academia; and conservation NGOs. European Commission — Consolidator Grants

The European Commission provides Consolidator Grants to experienced researchers with a scientific track record. ERC Grants support projects carried out by an individual researcher who can employ researchers of any nationality as team members. Applications can be made in any field of research. Proposed research projects under this program must be conducted in a public or private research organization located in one of the EU Member States or Associated Countries. Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to €2 million for a period of 5 years. The deadline for applications is 17 March 2022. Link

AQUACOSM — Access to Mesocosms Facilities

AQUACOSM, the EU network of mesocosm facilities for research on marine and freshwater ecosystems open for global collaboration, invites applications to the Transnational Access (TA) program. Successful TA applicants will have access to AQUACOSM partner facilities including logistical, technological and scientific support, specific training as well as travel and accommodation free of charge. University of California — Animal Law and Policy

The UCLA Animal Law and Policy Program advances animal protection through reliable, impactful research, effective law and policy reform, and training in practical legal tools. The program funds new empirical research in a wide variety of fields (from behavioral economics to law to moral psychology). UCLA anticipates funding approximately five to seven individual projects with a suggested total budget in the range of US$1,000 to US$4,500. Scholars and researchers affiliated with an accredited academic institution of higher learning in the United States may apply. However, UCLA accepts applications from and relating to other countries, as long as the principal investigator is based at a US university. European Commission — Agro-Ecological Approaches in African Agriculture Systems

The European Commission (EC) accepts proposals for the agro-ecological approaches in African agriculture systems grant program. The implementation of agro-ecological approaches will alleviate the pressure that agri-food production places on natural ecosystems, contributing to resilience of agri-food systems and facilitating nature-based responses to current and future agri-food risks and threats. Proposals should build on existing and develop new knowledge, data, and models. Applicants must be established in EU Member States or low- and middle-income countries. French Development Agency — Biodiversity Research Program

The French Development Agency (AFD) launches a call for expressions of interest for research on “Scaling up Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and large-scale ecological restoration: Towards changes in agricultural production, land-use and urban development models”. Each research project may request up to a maximum of €225 thousand in funding. Eligible project proponents are universities and research centers, NGOs, private foundations, international research centers and companies (including individual consultants) which will make their research public. CRDF Global — Alternative Energy Research Competition 2022

CRDF Global invites proposals from joint teams of U.S. and Ukrainian researchers for the 2022 US-Ukraine Alternative Energy Research Competition. The competition will support research teams engaged in basic or applied research in the area of photovoltaic, turbine, and biofuel technology. Eppley Foundation — Research in Biological and Physical Sciences

The Eppley Foundation for Research funds projects in medicine, life sciences, and the physical sciences. Areas of interest include innovative medical investigations and applications; endangered animals and ecosystems; and climate change. Applicants for grants must be associated with recognized nonprofit educational or research institutions in the US. Grants may be awarded for research internationally when applicants are based in the USA or are associated with U.S. institutions that will administer the grants. Most grants are under US$25 thousand. Breakthrough Institute — Generation Fellowship 2022

The Breakthrough Institute supports Generation Fellows who contribute writing and research to one of four policy programs at the Breakthrough Institute: Energy; Conservation; or Food and Farming. The program operates during ten weeks from June through August. Fellows receive US$600 per week. Eligibility to apply for the fellowships extends to final-year undergraduates, college graduates, and postgraduates. Fellowships are open to applicants from any country.
