French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs — Franco-Palestinian Cooperation Partnership Projects

The French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) launches the new three-year call for projects (2019-2021) in support of decentralized cooperation partnership projects between French and Palestinian local authorities. The initiative aims at consolidating the partnerships in progress. All projects and actions located in the Palestinian Territories are eligible. Thematic areas include rural development, agriculture and food security; Water, sanitation and waste management; and renewable energy, among others. The MEAE provides at least €170 thousand per year. The call for projects is aimed at French and Palestinian local authorities (governorate, municipality, village council, local council, refugee camps). Climate Tracker — Sustainability Solutions Stories Fellowship

Climate Tracker seeks journalists to report on sustainability challenges such as tourism, agriculture, water, and other aspects. Successful applicants will enjoy a 6-month fellowship covering the challenges and opportunities surrounding sustainability in their country/region. Fellows receive coaching and mentoring plus a US$150 stipend per month for the duration of their fellowship to cover expenses. Applicants have to have at least one year of journalism experience. The Spindle — Digital Innovations for Africa, Asia and Latin America

The Spindle seeks the 30 most inspiring Digital Innovations from all over the world and from all types of organizations who are working towards a sustainable, just and inclusive world. The digital innovation or technology should contribute to closer cooperation between organisations working on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The 30 selected participants have the chance to record a pitch video with a professional filmmaker and will present their product during the Partos Innovation Festival (October 2020) to potential partners and investors. Proposals for NGOs — #Togetherwecan Photo Contest

The Photo Contest is open to professional and non-professional photographers worldwide. Participants are invited to submit real pictures showing their development project and progress in local communities around the world. U.S. Department of State — Reducing Ocean Pollution in West Africa

The U.S. Department of State announces funding for capacity building with the aim to support the environmentally sound management of plastic waste in West Africa to reduce ocean pollution. A grant for up to US$179 thousand for work that will support a developing country in West Africa (Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Togo) to combat plastic waste leakage in the environment through improving waste. Eligibility is limited to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations and academic institutions, as well as public international organizations. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2020. Link

ENI CBC Med — Call for Capitalization Projects

The Mediterranean Sea Basin Program is a cross-border cooperation initiative implemented by the EU and neighboring coastal territories. The ENI CBC Med finances cooperation projects with focus on biodiversity conservation, climate change, and pollution for a more sustainable Mediterranean area. ENI CBC Med accepts applications for capitalization projects in the following priority areas: Water Management, Waste Treatment and Recycling, Renewable Energy, Integrated Coastal Zone Management. The maximum EU contribution is 90% of the total eligible costs with a total maximum of €1 million per project. The deadline for the submission of project proposals is 28 July 2020. Click here

Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization — Addressing Plastic Problems for Transforming Communities

The SEAMEO-Japan Education for Sustainable Development Award invites applications for projects or initiatives related to plastic waste management practices in schools and communities. The entry should demonstrate how the school’s program transforms the community, reduces plastic usage, or cleans the ecosystem of the community. Any public and private kindergarten, elementary schools, secondary school, vocational or technical school in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam is invited to apply. European Commission — Global and Environmental Health

The European Commission (EC) aims to strengthen and stimulate the dialogue between civil society organizations in the EU and the ASEAN region in areas of global health, environment challenges, sustainable growth, and fundamental rights. The EC provides financial assistance to local projects and think tanks that mitigate the negative impacts on public health (air, water and soil pollution), research zoonotic diseases, and rethink urban living spaces, among other priorities detailed in the call for proposals. Applicants may request up to €300 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and academic institutions established in the European Union, Indonesia, Thailand, New Zealand or the ASEAN region. Global Environment Facility — Community-based Projects in Malaysia

The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Programme in Malaysia seeks concept notes for community-based projects in biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, prevention of land degradation, and reduction of the impact of persistent organic pollutants. Eligibility extends to community-based non-profit organizations, NGOs, and other grassroots organizations. The average grant size is US$25 thousand. Young Water Solutions — Young Water Fellowship West Africa

The Young Water Fellowship targets young entrepreneurs. Selected Fellows will be invited to participate in a 10-days training workshop in Ivory Coast. The workshop aims to empower its participants to implement projects addressing water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), water pollution, and water scarcity. All training costs (flights, transportation, accommodation, meals) are covered by the organization. To be eligible, applicants must be 18 to 30 years old, be fluent in French, intend to stay in Ivory Coast for at least 1.5 years after the training and spend at least 15 hours per week to work on their social business.
