European Union and Republic of Turkey — Climate Change Adaptation Grant Program

The European Union and the Republic of Turkey invite concept notes for participation in the Climate Change Adaptation Grant Program (CCAGP). Projects should target the overall objective of enhancing climate change adaptation in Turkey through actions that improve resilience of communities and cities, protect natural resources and ecosystems and enhance adaptation capacity of vulnerable economic sectors. Grants requested under this call can range between €50 thousand and €450 thousand. Eligibility extends to local and international nonprofit organizations, universities, municipalities or local authorities. European Commission — Green Transition and Energy Access in Africa

The Horizon 2020-funded European Green Deal Call seeks to support research and innovation projects that respond to the climate crisis and help protect unique ecosystems and biodiversity. The strategic call “Accelerating the green transition and energy access Partnership with Africa” invites proposals for energy solutions that consider climate adaptation and mitigation potential with the aim of providing sustainable energy access in Africa. The Commission considers proposals requesting a contribution of between €5-10 million. At least two partners from at least one African country must be part of the consortium to be eligible for funding. The application deadline is 26 January 2021. Link

King Baudouin Foundation — Subsidies in Support of Sustainable Development

The Business Partnership Facility awards subsidies to support and develop private sector involvement in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in developing countries. The project must contribute to achieving at least one clearly identified SDG. Funding of up to €200 thousand is available. Partnerships must comprise actors from the private sector, civil society, academia and/or the public sector, with at least one organization from the for-profit private sector. Netherlands Enterprise Agency — DHI Subsidy Scheme

The DHI scheme aims to increase and strengthen the number of Dutch companies operating successfully in emerging markets and developing countries. DHI focuses on SMEs in the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom with interest in foreign markets (especially developing and emerging economies). Dutch SMEs can request subsidies for feasibility studies (with a foreign partner), investment preparation projects, or demonstration projects of a technology, product or service in the target country. Subsidies for DHIs are between €25 thousand and €200 thousand per project. The scheme is open to projects in all countries. The deadline to apply for a DHI subsidy is 31 December 2020. 100,000 Strong in the Americas — Higher Education for Sustainability in Mexico

The US-Mexico Innovation Fund Competition is designed to create and foster partnerships between higher education (HEIs) in Mexico and the United States that provide new student exchange and training programs in the academic themes of Green/Renewable Energy, Sustainable Agriculture, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and others. The Innovation Fund intends to award up to 11 grants of US$25 thousand. Higher education institutions in Mexico and the United States are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is 15 February 2021. UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council — Funding for International Workshops

The UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) provides funding for international workshops to stimulate joint research cooperations. The workshop can be held overseas or in the UK. Awards are up to £10 thousand. BBSRC invites applications from countries worldwide, but is particularly interested in promoting further links with Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, EU Member States, India, Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan and the USA. United States Agency for International Development — Sustainable Coastal Fisheries Management in the Pacific Region

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a Cooperative Agreement to address the drivers of illegal fishing that are degrading coastal fisheries and biodiversity in the Pacific Islands. The overall goal is to co-develop an activity to support sustainable coastal fisheries and protection of associated coastal and marine ecosystems in the Pacific Islands region and increasing the self-reliance of Pacific Island partners. USAID intends to provide US$15 million in total funding over a five year period. USAID encourages applications from potential new partners such as U.S. and non-US non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, universities, and international organizations. International Development Research Centre — Economic Opportunities for Women West Africa

The International Development Research Center (IDRC) seeks to support locally grounded in-depth evaluative and action research to identify and scale successful solutions for achieving women’s empowerment and gender equality in the world of work. Evaluative projects will have a budget of up to CA$500 thousand and a duration of up to 24 months. Action research projects will have a budget of up to CA$500 thousand and a duration of up to 36 months. The call is open to research institutions, think tanks, and non-governmental organizations based in Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Senegal. SNV Netherlands — Energy Access Kenya

SNV Netherlands invites solar and stove distributors to submit their expression of interest (EOI) for partnership towards promoting solar products and clean cooking solutions in Kenya. Proposed projects have to target refugee camps in order to promote stoves and small scale solar solutions for social institutions in the refugee set-up. Belmont Forum — Transdisciplinary Research for Pathways to Sustainability

The Belmont Forum launches a collaborative research networking call on the theme: Transdisciplinary Research for Pathways to Sustainability. The Belmont Forum will support collaborative research networking activities that focus on approaches to develop Earth-system-based transformation pathways for sustainable development. The call provides both cash and in-kind resources. Applicants are advised to contact their funding organization listed in the announcement before starting to prepare proposals.
