FEMSA Foundation — Sustainable Development of Water Resources in Latin America

The Foundation makes grants for sustainable development of water resources in Latin America. Grant recipients for community water projects include government agencies, development NGOs, foundations and institutes, and other nonprofit organizations. To propose projects, applicants should contact the Foundation via its email address or telephone. Details

Global Fund for Community Foundation — Community Support

The Global Fund for Community Foundation (GFCF) accepts concept notes aimed at strengthening and supporting community philanthropy approaches. Projects may focus on mobilizing local resources and/or foster the growth of local philanthropy for progressive social change. (Note: This may include one or more categories of the Terra Viva Grant directory, including environmental programs.) Grants will be in the range of US$7 thousand to US$20 thousand. Eligibility extends to CPOs based in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, or Latin America and the Caribbean. Eligible applicants are welcome to submit a concept note anytime. The Pollination Project — Animal Welfare Grants

The Pollination Project (TPP) launches the Animal Welfare Grants Program to support individuals and groups who are working to protect farmed animals. TPP funds  projects that aim to reduce the consumption of animals, advocate for farmed animal welfare and raise awareness around farmed animal cruelty. The Pollination Project supports individuals and groups with US$1,000. Grants are open for anyone in the world, but applications from people in Brazil, India, and Mexico are especially welcome. U.S. Department of State — Climate Solutions and Sustainable Entrepreneurship

The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit a statement of interest to carry out a program to expand the Department’s response to the climate crisis. The overall goal is to create local communities of entrepreneurs that are more market-savvy and better able to generate climate solutions. Awards range from US$50 thousand to US$260 thousand. Eligibility extends to U.S. and foreign non-profit organizations; institutions of higher education; and businesses. The closing date for applications is 14 July 2023. Link

CEZ Group — Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)

The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 7 aims to identify and support youth-led enterprises that are tackling the energy divide in the worst affected countries and regions. The challenge welcomes innovations for addressing energy needs, for example, providing affordable energy to communities with limited access or clean alternative cooking fuels. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of CEZ Group professionals. The initiative must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30). U.S. Mission to the Democratic Republic of Congo — Funding for Community Organizations

The Ambassador’s Special Self-Help (ASSH) Program is a grants program that seeks to improve community-based natural resource management. ASSH announces an open competition for organizations in the Democratic Republic of Congo to submit applications to carry out small, community-based activities. Funding aims at assisting community groups to develop lasting, self-sustaining projects with focus on vulnerable populations. Small grants of up to US$16 thousand are available. European Commission — Civil Society Development in Uzbekistan

The European Commission (EC) seeks to strengthen non-governmental actors and promote cooperation between civil society organizations to contribute to social change and sustainable development in Uzbekistan. One priority area is the Green Deal (i.e. climate change, environment). Applicants may request between €300 thousand and €450 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations. European Commission — Sustainable Development of the Prespa Lake Area

The European Commission (EC) aims to support eco-friendly socio-economic development in the Prespa Lake Area (North Macedonia). The priorities of this call for proposal are: sustainable eco-friendly tourism and improving cross-border exchanges and cooperation with Albania and Greece for the preservation of the area. European Commission — Grants to Support Environmental Defenders

The European Commission (EC) seeks proposals to establish a regional mechanism for the protection of environmental defenders in Mesoamerica. The overall amount made available under this call is €3 million. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Data Papers on Soil Biodiversity

The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) announces a new call for authors to submit and publish data papers on soil biodiversity. Papers will be published in a special collection of Biodiversity Data Journal. The publisher Pensoft will waive the article processing fee (normally €650) for the first 40 accepted data paper manuscripts. The deadline to receive proposals is 22 September 2023.
