The International SeaKeepers Society supports the Discovery Yachts Program to promote marine research, education, and conservation. The program enables marine scientists to conduct oceanographic research by placing them on member vessels. SeaKeepers maintains a database of yacht owners willing to donate time, fuel, provisions, and expertise aboard their vessels. Research missions aboard participating yachts may take place in any coastal or offshore waters where legally permitted. Proposals are accepted on a rolling (continuous) basis. Action for Nature — International Young Eco-Hero Awards 2024
The International Young Eco-Hero Award honors the work of young people between the ages of 8 and 16 who have completed successful projects in environmental advocacy, environmental health, research, or protection of the natural world. The selected individuals are awarded a cash prize (US$500) and certificate, as well as public recognition. The annual competition is open internationally. National Geographic Society — Exploration Grant
The National Geographic Society funds individuals working on projects in science, conservation, storytelling, education, and technology that align with one or more of their focus areas: Ocean, Land, Wildlife, Human History & Culture, Human Ingenuity. Level I grants receive funding up to US$20 thousand and offer unique opportunities for training, networking, coaching, and mentorship from fellow National Geographic experts. Level II grants are up to US$100 thousand. Currently, National Geographic Society seeks innovative photography, short film, writing, data visualization and other storytelling proposals to help water users understand the issues around global water sustainability. The Ford Fund Fellowship is a virtual program for social entrepreneurs and community leaders building ventures that create impactful and scalable innovations. The Paul M. Angell Family Foundation makes grants in thematic areas that include marine and ocean conservation. The Foundation is interested in marine protected areas; sustainable fisheries; conserving sharks and rays; conservation of coral reefs; and limiting plastics pollution. Earth Journalism Network — Asia-Pacific Media Grants 2024
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks applications from journalist networks, media organizations, civil society organizations, or academic institutions throughout the Asia-Pacific region. With this call, the EJN aims to boost the quantity and quality of environmental and climate coverage in the region. The proposed projects can focus on capacity building activities, networking, or be used as a seed grant to build a new environmental media startup or journalist network. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting Fellowships 2024
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces the launch of a new year-long fellowship program for journalists which will enhance reporting over four priority areas — climate change, biodiversity, the ocean and One Health. EJN seeks four environmental reporters which will provide journalistic training and mentorship, a quarterly salary stipend and funding for story production, travel and professional development opportunities. Fellows will receive a quarterly stipend of €6,000 to cover expenses for story production and €6,000 to cover travel to conferences and travel for story production.
