The Blue Action Fund announces a new open call for grant proposals focusing on the Wider Caribbean Sea. The Fund provides individual grants to selected conservation projects with focus on marine protected areas (MPAs) to support conservation of biodiversity, and projects that seek to enhance livelihood conditions and food security. The Fund will award grants of €2-4 million. Eligible applicants are non-profit organizations with proven experience in coastal and marine conservation and sustainable livelihood development in the area. Prince Albert II Foundation — Strengthen Arctic and Antarctic Marine Protected Areas
The Prince Albert II Foundation accepts applications to strengthen Arctic and Antarctic marine protected areas. The Foundation seeks to better understand climate-induced changes and how these changes affect the global social, economic and environmental systems and double the efforts to protect these fragile ecosystems. Islamic Development Bank — Empowering Youth for a Greener Future
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) invites youth-led non-profit organizations to propose new and innovative green ideas and solutions that will support training processes for young people living in post-crisis situations. The “Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge” seeks to equip youths (15-35 years old) living in Islamic States with the competencies required for supporting a just transition in their communities. Up to 10 finalists will receive mentoring and training for a period of one week to improve their projects. The top three ideas will be awarded US$50 thousand, US$30 thousand, and US$20 thousand respectively, to implement the proposed solution. Ideas must be submitted no later than 28 July 2023. Palladium — Challenge Fund
Palladium funds humanitarian relief efforts and supports community projects with the aim to source innovative responses to global challenges. In 2022, Palladium supports organizations that have innovative approaches to valuing nature, or sustainable solutions to getting refugees into jobs with up to AU$75 thousand. The TED Fellows Program provides transformational support to an international community of visionaries who collaborate across disciplines (many within the thematic fields of the Terra Viva Grants Directory) to create positive change around the world. TED Fellows are chosen based on remarkable achievement, character, and their innovative approach to solving the world’s tough problems. Selected fellows participate in professional training and mentoring with public relations experts, and attend regional meet-ups and retreats for conservation and exchange of ideas. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on the Mediterranean Sea (Tunisia)
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists in Tunisia to support the production of in-depth stories on the scale of unsustainable marine management and biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea. EJN welcomes submissions that highlight the impact on coastal communities, including the loss of sustainable livelihoods, the hardships of small-scale fishers, the decline of valuable ecosystems, and the loss of natural and cultural heritage. Mirova — Nature-based Solutions
The Nature+ Accelerator Fund aims to support nature-based innovative solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change whilst delivering positive impacts both on biodiversity and the wellbeing of local communities. The Fund will invest in projects across the following four categories: Terrestrial Conservation and Restoration; Marine Conservation and Coastal Resilience; Sustainable Agriculture; and Nature-Based Innovation (e.g., drone technology, conservation-focused smart apps, etc.). Projects with an early-stage concept may request between US$100-200 thousand, projects that have a proof-of-concept can receive between US$1-2 million, and successful projects looking for follow-on funding to scale-up will receive up to US$5 million. Applicants must be seeking commercial proposals – the funding delivered will be investment capital subject to repayment and returns. The application window closes 31 August 2022. Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development — Sustainable Development Goals Monitoring
The Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development (APWLD) invites women’s rights and feminist organizations to apply for sub-grants. APWLD will support up to 8 organizations to do monitoring of the SDGs implementation in their country. The aim is to develop the capacity of feminist movements and women’s rights organizations to conduct evidence-based advocacy for the monitoring and review of the Sustainable Development Goals. APWLD will provide each partner organization with a sub-grant of between US$15 thousand to US$18 thousand. SDSN Youth — Global Innovation and Impact Awards
SDSN Youth mobilizes youth to the forefront of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by connecting young people to pathways of understanding, collaboration and action. The Global Innovation and Impact Awards aim to recognize and mobilize leading solutions for the Sustainable Development Goals. The Awards target young changemakers worldwide building solutions for the SDGs. The submissions must have a measurable positive impact on achieving at least one of the 17 SDGs. SDSN Youth will work collaboratively with the awardees to provide seed funding, mentorship and access to exclusive opportunities.
