Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World — Early-Career Fellowship
The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) supports female scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with doctoral fellowships in the natural sciences. The early-career fellowships are for the pursuit of a doctoral degree at a host institution in a developing country that is not the applicant’s home country. The Fellowship is for two years and provides up to US$50 thousand. Applicants should be qualified young women science graduates (generally below 40 years of age), who have an M.Sc. degree or outstanding B.Sc. in the natural sciences. The Ocean Awards recognize individuals, community groups, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the health of the marine environment, to the sustainable management of marine resources, or to public engagement with the oceans and seas. Winners will receive media coverage and have a professional film about their achievements. Initiatives from all around the world can be nominated for the award. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on Fisheries in Central America
Earth Journalism Network (EJN) holds a workshop on fisheries journalism in Belize (April 2024) to equip journalists with the skills necessary to report on the protection and sustainable management of fisheries in the Mesoamerican Reef region. EJN will cover airfare for journalists selected from Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala. All participating journalists will receive a stipend for food and other incidental expenses. Photographers Without Borders — Revolutionary Storyteller Grant
The Revolutionary Storyteller Grant supports revolutionary storytellers across all fields. Five recipients will be awarded US$5,000 to support the creation of an impactful photography project, a video, and a community exhibition. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Argentina
The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Argentina. CFLI provides funding to projects that implement environment and climate action projects focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management, among other thematic priorities. The average contribution for each project is C$25 thousand to C$35 thousand. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national or community-based organizations. SEARCA accepts nominations for regional professorial chair grants. The grant is open to Southeast Asian experts in the academic field of Agricultural Technology/Innovation or with outstanding contributions on policies related to Agripreneurship. These include, but are not limited to, agriculture, social sciences, marine and fishery sciences, environmental sciences, economics, and rural development-oriented fields. The awardee will receive a grant of US$5 thousand. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to Indigenous journalists to support the production of in-depth environmental stories that call attention to climate justice, biodiversity, sustainable ecosystems, and other issues related to the rights and well-being of Indigenous peoples and communities. ENJ expects to award between 8-9 grants with an average budget of US$1,400 each. Applicants must self-identify as Indigenous or belonging to a tribe. Applicants can be from any country in the world. Marine Mammal Commission — Grants to Protect Marine Mammals 2024
The Marine Mammal Commission invites worldwide proposals on community-driven conservation approaches to eliminate, manage, or mitigate threats to marine mammals. The Commission supports projects on any subject in support of marine mammal conservation, protection, research, and management. All projects must include an outreach, communication, or engagement component that furthers marine mammal conservation or management efforts. Funding requests are limited to US$60 thousand. PEMSEA — East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum
The East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum (April 2024) aims to bring together young leaders across the East Asian Seas region to have a deeper understanding of the marine environment, and impacts of climate change. Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Vietnam. Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old and have, at least, one year exposure or experience in marine science, marine conservation, or any related fields.
