United States Government — Science Prize for Women

The 2018 ASEAN-U.S. Science Prize for Women seeks to identify and recognize ASEAN-based, early to mid-career women who are using applied sciences to solve agricultural challenges. The top two finalists will be invited to compete in a pitch competition during an ASEAN Ministerial event in the Philippines in October 2018. The overall winner will receive $20 thousand. Eligibility extends to female scientists from any ASEAN member state under the age of 40. Applications are accepted until 06 May 2018. Know more

UN Framework Convention on Climate Change — Training Program on Greenhouse Gases

UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT is a professional training on greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories to national experts from developing countries. The goal is to enhance the technical capacity of individuals and to improve the overall competency in reporting and in contributing to climate action. The four-week intensive training course will begin on 25 June and be held in Seoul (South Korea). Current government officials, consultants and researchers in the fields of greenhouse gas emissions, emission reductions, and climate change are encouraged to apply. Participants will be provided a return ticket from and to their home countries, as well as room and board for the duration of the training. Applications have to be sent by 7 May 2018. University of Cape Town — CSAG Winter School 2018

The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in July 2018. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation — Pitch AgriHack 2018

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), with the support of the African Development Bank (AfDB) launches the Pitch AgriHack 2018. The theme for this year’s edition is “Women entrepreneurs innovate for agricultural transformation in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific”. The competition is open to both male and female founders and co-founders of e-agri startups offering digital services to the agricultural sector. Applicants must be aged between 18 to 35 years and need to be nationals and residents of African, Caribbean or Pacific countries. 50% of finalists will be women founders or co-founders of startups. British Council — Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops

Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and other regional partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The programme intends to tackle global challenges – such as climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, rural and urban development, and food safety among others. Regional Workshops can be proposed between the UK and Brazil, China, India, Jordan, and Peru. The application deadline is 08 June 2018. More about the application process

John Ball Zoological Society — Wildlife Conservation 2018

The John Ball Zoological Society makes grants to conserve wild animals and their habitats; to improve the management of captive animals; and to develop education programs related to these objectives. Most funded projects are in developing countries. The principal investigator can be of any nationality and must be associated with a recognized institution (accredited zoo, academic institution, conservation or non-profit organization). Roth Family Foundation — Fellowship for Short Courses related to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation

The Roth Family Foundation offers three full fellowships per year for IHE Delft Short Courses related to Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation, to female water professionals from Sub-Saharan Africa. The fellowship covers the tuition fee, study related costs, insurance and contributes towards the costs of living and travel. Eligible candidates must be female, have a Bachelor of Science degree and at least two years of working experience. A list of eligible short courses can be found in the announcement. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2018-2019

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2018-2019 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Unitech International — Carbon Footprint Challenge 2018

The Carbon Footprint Challenge is open for ideas and solution to decrease carbon footprint of manufacturing, industrial processes as well as for products throughout their entire value chain. BASF — Asia Nutrition Research Grant

BASF seeks applications for its 2018 Newtrition® Asia Research grant program that aims to fund academics in the Asia-Pacific region to study nutritional topics that will advance research relevant to diet and health for consumers. Projects must have a significant scientific value, addressing existing health issues of populations in the Asia Pacific region in the areas of human nutrition and food science. Winners will receive up to €40 thousand for 18 months of research. Application deadline is 31 May 2018. Find out more
