InterAction encourages photographers from all around the world to submit powerful photos that illustrate innovative, effective, and inspiring efforts in international relief and development. Examples of empowering women, innovative technology, food security and environmental development are within the contest’s theme, though entries are not limited to those areas. UK Natural Environment Research Council — Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund 2020
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) invites proposals to its Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund 2020 call. The Fund allows UK environmental science researchers to forge new partnerships and networks with international researchers from developing countries. Activities under this grant scheme may include, but are not limited to, programs of exchange visits, scoping studies, proof of concept studies and workshops. Nordic Africa Institute — Grants for Guest Researchers from Africa 2020
The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) provides funding to social science researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa for short-term collaborative assignments at the NAI in Uppsala, Sweden. Female researchers are especially encouraged to apply. The scholarship includes travel (economy class), accommodation, a subsistence allowance of SEK400 per day plus an installation grant of SEK2,500. The thematic research programs include the topics of economic growth, poverty alleviation, sustainable livelihoods, climate change, and sustainable development, among others. International Initiative for Impact Evaluation — Bursaries for EvalMENA 2020 Conference
3ie offers five bursaries to support nationals from low-and-middle income countries for the EvalMENA 2020 conference, Evaluation for Sustainable Development and Change. The event will be held from 27 February to 1 March 2020 in Jordan. The event will include pre-conference workshops for emerging evaluators and sessions on new trends in evaluation, innovative methodologies and evaluation for resilience and climate change. The JK VISIONARIES award recognizes organizations that are working to improve lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. The award seeks sustainable solutions that solve people’s problems with new tools, methods, or techniques (possibly within one or more thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory) with the potential to be replicated in other countries. Sight and Life invites ideas from students, young professionals and entrepreneurs to provide a planet-friendly disruptive solution to combat malnutrition. Nutritional, climate-friendly and environmental-friendly innovative solutions from a diverse category of products, technologies and services are welcome. An Elevator Pitch Contest will be held at the Micronutrient Forum Global Conference (March 2020). Seven selected finalists will win a round trip and accommodation to Bangkok to present their idea. The Rockefeller Foundation invites organizations across the globe to develop and submit their vision of a regenerative and nourishing food system. Project ideas must tackle global problems, including overpopulation, climate change, or soil, air and water pollution. Selected visionaries will receive US$200 thousand in project funding to help implement their ideas and participate in an accelerator during which they will have access to media and storytelling training. Blue Action Fund — Adaptation to Climate Change in the Western Indian Ocean
The Blue Action Fund announces a call for grant proposals focusing on ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) to climate change in the Western Indian Ocean. Grants are made to NGOs with projects that focus on protecting Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and supporting sustainable livelihoods in coastal communities. The Fund aims to support projects protecting and restoring adaptation-relevant coastal ecosystems to reduce climate change-related risks for vulnerable coastal communities. The fund will allocate €2-5 million per project. Applicants are expected to provide substantial co-funding for the project. Flemish Inter-University Council — International Training Programme on ‘eR-Biostat’
VLIR-UOS is the secretariat of Flemish universities for development cooperation, with funding by Belgian Development Cooperation. VLIR-UOS announces the International Training Programme on ‘eR-Biostat’ that will take place at Hasselt University, Belgium. The program aims to train the participants in using and developing a new E-learning system in Biostatistics/Statistics. Eligibility for scholarships extends to applicants in 31 developing countries of Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America. World Bank — Ideas for Action Competition 2020
Ideas for Action is a knowledge platform of the World Bank Group and the Zicklin Center for Business Ethics Research at the Wharton School. The annual Ideas for Action competition seeks innovative ideas and actionable projects to support the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Past winners include water solutions for better fish farm yields, women-led business models to improve sustainable access to energy, web based solutions for agriculture processes, and many more. Teams must consist of two to six members and may be formed across different schools, institutions, companies, or countries. Students and young professionals between the ages of 18-35 years from around the world are invited to participate. The winners of the competition present their ideas at the annual meeting of the World Bank Group, receive support from a project incubator and coaching.
