Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes large grants in support of biodiversity conservation in Indonesia with focus on the “Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot.” Grants are in support of community-based sustainable small-scale fisheries, protection and conservation of endangered marine species, marine protected areas management, and activities that promote improved marine and coastal ecosystems. The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) accepts nominations for the 2022 Al-Sumait Prize in Food Security. The prize is awarded to individuals or institutions who have made significant advancement in food security and nutrition in Africa. The prize is awarded within one of three fields – Food Security, Health and Education – and has a value of US$1 million. The candidates’ research projects must be innovative and have achieved high-impact in the African continent. The Oak Foundation makes grants in several thematic areas, including Environment. Oak’s grants in the sub-theme of marine conservation focus on industrial fishing, small-scale fisheries, and plastics pollution. The Foundation also makes grants to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in North America, Europe, and some emerging economies, e.g., Brazil, China, and India. The Foundation’s sub-theme on illegal wildlife trade aims to conserve populations of African elephants and rhinos by curbing their illegal hunting and trade. Siemenpuu Foundation — Biocultural Rights of Indigenous Communities
Siemenpuu Foundation calls for project proposals to support the biocultural rights of indigenous communities and their biocultural life-heritages as adapted to their local environments. The aim is to strengthen indigenous communities’ biocultural diversity and their rights to live in ways which do not threaten or weaken biodiversity and ecosystems. The range of project funding is €30 thousand to €100 thousand for projects with a maximum duration of 24 months.
