The ygap accelerator provides support to South African leaders with solutions to poverty. Entrepreneurs and startups with project ideas and solutions for their local community are invited to apply for the training program. The program offers a three-day accelerator followed by twelve months of tailored support including business skills development, strategy insights, mentor support, and more. Participants will gain access to professionals (designers, lawyers, coaches, etc.) and have the opportunity to apply for small grants. Eligibility extends to social entrepreneurs operating in South Africa, who are dedicated to creating a positive change in the lives of people living in poverty. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on Fisheries in Central America
Earth Journalism Network (EJN) holds a workshop on fisheries journalism in Belize (April 2024) to equip journalists with the skills necessary to report on the protection and sustainable management of fisheries in the Mesoamerican Reef region. EJN will cover airfare for journalists selected from Honduras, Mexico, and Guatemala. All participating journalists will receive a stipend for food and other incidental expenses. Noel Buxton Trust — Promoting Livelihoods in Africa
The Noel Buxton Trust makes grants of up to £10 thousand per year for up to three years for projects in Africa that develop sustainable livelihoods in community settings. Past recent projects on the theme of economic development include examples in livestock raising, aquaculture, and credit for women-led businesses. The Trust especially welcomes applications in support of initiatives that help build sustainable futures in the semi-arid areas of Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Sudan, and South Sudan. The Trust invites applications from registered civil society organizations in Africa, and from UK-based charities — including from diaspora organizations based in the UK – for projects in the priority countries. SEARCA accepts nominations for regional professorial chair grants. The grant is open to Southeast Asian experts in the academic field of Agricultural Technology/Innovation or with outstanding contributions on policies related to Agripreneurship. These include, but are not limited to, agriculture, social sciences, marine and fishery sciences, environmental sciences, economics, and rural development-oriented fields. The awardee will receive a grant of US$5 thousand. The East Asian Seas Congress Youth Forum (April 2024) aims to bring together young leaders across the East Asian Seas region to have a deeper understanding of the marine environment, and impacts of climate change. Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply: Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Timor-Leste, Vietnam. Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old and have, at least, one year exposure or experience in marine science, marine conservation, or any related fields. The Contemplative Changemaking Grants support the use of contemplative approaches by grassroots changemakers addressing urgent community needs. Global Nature Fund — Living Lakes Network
Living Lakes is a global network of partnership organizations to protect lakes, wetlands, and other freshwater sources and their catchment areas. The network takes an ecosystem approach to include biodiversity conservation and support for local livelihoods, e.g., in agriculture, fisheries, tourism, etc. Living Lakes does not make project grants, but it offers network assistance to members. Members are able to include their projects and proposals in the Living Lakes portfolio for the attention of potential donors and sponsors. Members may also apply for assistance to participate in the meetings, workshops, and conferences of Living Lakes — and to seek other forms of networking and training support. Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association — Coastal Ecosystems Resilience
The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) launches a regional call for proposals to support demonstrative field actions aimed at fostering the restoration, the management and the sustainable use of marine and coastal ecosystems.
