FameLab Climate Change Communicators is a global online competition and training event to build trust in climate science. The British Council invites aspiring climate change communicators to submit a video giving a three-minute talk in English related to the theme of ‘Trust in Climate Science’. All finalists will take part in a two-day online masterclass delivered by leading science communication trainers. The European Commission supports inclusive growth and resilience to extreme climate conditions in rural communities in Tajikistan, based on improved agriculture and sustainable use of water and natural resources. The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) accepts applications for the 12th Central Asian Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development (CALP). The program provides knowledge and capacity to young leaders from government bodies and other stakeholders in order to enable their switching to Sustainable Consumption and Production in Central Asia and Afghanistan. CALP provides a neutral youth dialogue platform for discussing water cooperation, climate change, energy efficiency, as well as the coronavirus pandemic and its impact. CALP seeks participants that are representatives of civil society organizations, state, and academic sectors. Preference will be given to the applicants between the ages of 28 to 40. International Development Research Centre — Gender in STEM Research Initiative
Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announces a new funding opportunity to advance gender analysis and women’s leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This initiative will support university-led consortia to expand and deepen scholarship in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Africa, on the challenges and opportunities that women scientists experience in STEM fields. Nuffic announces a grant program to develop and strengthen the skills of women and young girls. The program is aimed at professionals and organizations that provide education and training within the priority themes of the Dutch government (Water, Food and Nutrition Security, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, and Security and Rule of Law). Grants can be used for training initiatives and capacity building programs that address specifically the needs of women. The maximum subsidy is €75 thousand per tailor-made training. The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) supports regional environmental and sustainable development events in Asia. SEI welcomes concept notes for regional strategic events in Asia that focus on advancing environmentally sustainable development with integration of gender and social equality and rights-based approaches. Themes under the Strategic Collaborative Fund include: Addressing air pollution and climate change, agrobiodiversity, disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation, and ecosystems. A total of SEK450 thousand will be awarded per grant. Projects should be based in South or Southeast Asia or address issues relevant to Asia. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Combat Wildlife Trafficking in Central Asia
The U.S. Department of State seeks to build civilian law enforcement capabilities to combat wildlife crime in Central Asia. This program will conduct activities in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The aim is to strengthen legislative and regulatory frameworks; build investigative and enforcement capacity; and enhance prosecutorial and judicial capacity. The Asian Elephant Conservation Fund invites project proposals for the conservation of the Asian elephant (Elephas maximus). Grants are for activities in elephant conservation, protection of habitat, prevention of poaching, and other activities in elephant conservation. Grants range from US$50 thousand to US$500 thousand for projects at priority sites within the range of the Asian elephant, but proposals outside of range are welcome when shows a clear relevance to the Asian elephant conservation.
