D-BAW — Seed Grant for Community Impact
The D-BAW Seed Grant for Community Impact supports grassroots initiatives and community-driven projects aimed at creating sustainable social change. This program offers grants of up to US$5 thousand to registered non-profit organizations, community groups, and social enterprises operating in any country. The funding is intended to kickstart small-scale projects that address local challenges in areas such as education, environmental sustainability, and health. Alstom Foundation — Project Support for NGOs
The Alstom Foundation invites project proposals from NGOs in eligible countries in the Asia-Pacific region, South Asia, Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa (a full list of eligible countries is provided in the call for proposals). The Foundation supports a range of activities, including economic and social development, environmental protection, access to mobility, and access to energy and water. Environmental Research and Education Foundation — Research on Solid Waste
The Environmental Research and Education Foundation (EREF) offers research grants on the management of solid wastes. Topics include waste minimization; recycling; waste conversion to energy, biofuels, chemicals, and other products; waste diversion to other uses; and landfills. There are no geographical restrictions on institutions that can apply. Nordic Africa Institute — African Scholar Program
The Nordic Africa Institute offers a scholarship for early-career researchers based in Africa to conduct research in Sweden for two to three months. The program is open to PhD students enrolled in African doctoral programs and postdoctoral researchers who completed their degree within the last four years, provided they are employed at an African university or research center. The scholarship covers economy airfare, accommodation, a workspace at the institute, and an installation grant of 2,500 SEK. Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement — Nominations for Prize in 2027
The Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement grants US$250 thousand to recognize exceptional accomplishments in environmental science, energy, or medicine. The Tyler Prize can be awarded to living individuals or public or private institutions anywhere in the world. Several past prize winners have been distinguished in scientific and technical areas such as the global nitrogen cycle, global biodiversity assessments, wastewater treatment in developing countries, and others relevant to the link between environment and development. Micro Charity Grant — Support for Charities
The Micro Charity Grant offers financial support to charitable organizations worldwide, enabling them to enhance existing programs, develop new initiatives, or cover essential operational costs. Eligible applicants must be recognized as charitable entities within their respective countries. The grant’s flexibility allows recipients to allocate funds where they will have the greatest impact, whether by sustaining current efforts or fostering new growth opportunities. ENGIE Corporate Foundation — Grants for Improved Energy Access
The ENGIE Foundation makes grants in thematic areas that include support for improved energy access by disadvantaged communities. Applicants provide summary information about their organization and its partners; objectives and context of the proposed project; details of the funding request; and how the project will be evaluated. World Habitat — World Habitat Awards 2027
The World Habitat Awards (WHA) demonstrate solutions to current housing issues faced by countries worldwide. The WHA takes a broad perspective to include energy, waste management, water conservation, resilience to natural disasters, and other environmental aspects in its definition of habitat. East-West Center — Pacific Islands Leadership Program
The East-West Center welcomes applications for the Pacific Islands Leadership Program with Taiwan to enhance the leadership capacities of young leaders in the Pacific Islands. Participants will spend approximately two months at the East-West Center’s campus in Hawaii, in addition to a month in Taipei at the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs. The curriculum includes topics in climate change and environmental stewardship, among others. Eligibility extends to early and mid-careers professionals in the Cook Islands, Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. The fellowship provides a fully funded experience, covering the costs of a one-week online session, two weeks of training in Honolulu, and three weeks in Taiwan.
