Heliconia Society International — Small Grants for Student Research

The Heliconia Society International makes small grants supporting research on any aspects of the botany and horticulture of the Zingiberales conducted by graduate and post-doctoral students enrolled at recognized universities and research institutions. Annual grants are US$1,000. Awardees will also receive one year’s free membership to the HSI, and a summary of their research proposal will be published in the HSI Bulletin. British Council — Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops

Newton Fund Researcher Links Regional Workshops bring together early-career researchers from the UK and other regional partner countries to allow them to make international connections that can improve the quality of their research. The program intends to tackle global challenges – such as climate and environment, sustainable energy, water and sanitation, rural and urban development, and food safety among others. German Academic Exchange Service — Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience 2019

DAAD collaborates with the EC’s Marie Curie Program to offer the Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience (PRIME) for outstanding postdoctoral researchers across all disciplines and nationalities. Funding is provided for 18 months, of which 12 months are spent abroad and 6 months at a German university. The funding consists of salaries instead of scholarships. U.S. Embassy Vientiane — YSEALI Regional Workshop: Agri-Biz Incubator

The U.S. Embassy Vientiane invites applications from organizations to carry out a five-day workshop in Laos on on agriculture-related entrepreneurship (agri-biz) for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). The workshop will focus on building theoretical and practical knowledge about responsible, sustainable and environmentally sound agri-biz initiatives in Southeast Asia. Candidates can apply for US$ 250 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations and educational institutions. The closing date for applications is 31 July 2019. Find details

EuroScience — European Young Researchers’ Award 2020

The European Young Researchers’ Award (EYRA) aims to inspire early stage researchers in all research areas to incorporate a European dimension and perspective into their research. The 2020 call is open to early-career PhD and post-doctoral researchers from any nationality, who work in a European country. The award consists of a certificate, free participation (including travel) at the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF), and one year free EuroScience membership. U.S. Department of State — YSEALI Academic Fellowship

The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders in the ASEAN countries. The YSEALI Academic Fellowship offer support to participate in a five-week institute on the campus of a U.S. university or college in one of the following topics: civil engagement; environmental issues; or social entrepreneurship and economic development. The fellowships include leadership development, an educational study tour, local community service activities, and opportunities to engage with peers in the USA. Applications are invited from current full-time undergraduate students citizen of Vietnam aged between 18 and 25 years. Application deadline is 02 June 2019. Link

Unilever — Young Entrepreneurs Awards 2019

The Unilever Young Entrepreneurs Awards invite nominations of individuals ages 18 to 35 anywhere in the world who have initiatives, products, or services that address sustainability challenges in three categories. The categories are ‘improve people’s health and well-being’; ‘improve the health of the planet’; and ‘contribute to a fairer and more socially inclusive world’. Unilever will recognise up to eight winners in 2019, each of whom will be awarded a cash prize in addition to one-to-one mentoring support for a year. The overall winner will receive the “HRH The Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize” of €50 thousand, the remaining winners will each receive a €8.5 thousand cash award. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women

The IUSSTF invites Indian Women Scientists, Engineers & Technologists to apply for the “Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM” (2nd Batch) to undertake international collaborative research in the USA. Proposed thematic areas of work include agricultural sciences, life sciences and seven others. Eligibility extends to Indian women (aged 21-35 years) currently pursuing Ph.D. degree. Unitech International — Carbon Footprint Challenge 2019

The Carbon Footprint Challenge is open for ideas and solution to decrease carbon footprint of manufacturing, industrial processes as well as for products throughout their entire value chain. The challenge is open to students and young employees. Each team must consist of 3-5 people. The winner will receive CHF10 thousand. Ideas can be submitted until 07 July 2019. Find out more

Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation — Scholarships 2019-2020

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. Applicants must provide a certificate of their proficiency in Italian language (not required for courses entirely taught in English). Applications must be submitted by 30 May 2019.
