EIT Food seeks 3 organizations based in the Southern Europe (including Turkey) and 2 organizations based in the Eastern Europe to organize a capacity building program for women in agri-business. The aim of this program is to find innovative solutions that tackle the problems faced by women entrepreneurs, develop early-stage startups and create new female led agrifood businesses. The selected organization will receive funding of up to €21 thousand to cover the costs of the 3 startup events/workshops and additional activities. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Biodiversity Conservation in the Mediterranean Basin (Tunisia)
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) makes small grants (US$ 5-8 thousand) to private enterprises in Tunisia in support of biodiversity conservation in coastal areas in the Mediterranean region. The overall aim of this call is to engage private sector stakeholders to adopt sustainable practices. Projects should be implemented in the future marine protected area (MPA) of Zembra and Zembretta. The Global LEAP Electric Pressure Cooker Competition recognizes manufacturers and distributors of electric pressure cookers that design energy efficient electric pressure cookers suitable for use in off-and weak-grid settings. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Renewable Energy Technologies in Agriculture
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seeks an implementing partner to scale-up renewable energy technologies in existing IFAD agriculture projects in the Latin America and Caribbean for the benefit of smallholder farmers and producers. IFAD will make a three-year grant of US$2 million to be used for implementing and scaling-up energy technologies. U.S. Agency for International Development — Biodiversity Conservation in Vietnam
USAID seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the “USAID Biodiversity Conservation” activity in Vietnam. The funding provided under this call should be used to (1) Maintain and increase forest quality in high-conservation value provinces and, (2) Protect and stabilize wildlife populations in national parks and reserves in high-conservation value provinces. Key activities and strategic approaches are detailed in the call for proposals. USAID intends to provide one award of up to US$38 million for a five year project. (Note: USAID has established a minimum required cost share of 10% of the total estimated costs, approx. US$3.8 million). Government of India — Cleaning the Ganga and Agri-Water
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) India and the Dutch Research Council (NWO) aim to contribute to cleaning the Ganga, with particular focus on the impact of agriculture on the Ganga water system. Proposed projects may focus on river basin system management and research, propose interventions to improve agricultural water management, or produce science-based recommendations for policies and regulations that contribute to increased water awareness. Proposals should furthermore be characterized by equal partnership and sustainable collaboration between the Indian and Dutch partners. Applications can be submitted by consortia that include research organizations, academic institutions, and/or public, semi-public or private organizations (for-profit or non-profit). Consortia can apply for a maximum of €700 thousand at NWO (Dutch research partners) and a maximum of Rs. 5.5 crores from DST (Indian research partners). The deadline for submissions is 12 May 2020. Foundation Future of the Carbon Market — Markets for Carbon Emissions
The Foundation “Future of the Carbon Market” (Stiftung Zukunft des Kohlenstoffmarktes) promotes a market-based approach at a program level to reduce carbon emissions in developing countries. The program approach relies on start-up finance generated by the sale of tradable emissions certificates, combined with national policies and incentives favorable to emissions reductions. US Department of State — Academy for Women Entrepreneurs in South Africa
The U.S. Embassy South Africa announces an open competition for organizations to submit concept notes to carry out a training program for women entrepreneurs in South Africa in collaboration with the Arizona State University. (Note: This announcement seeks implementing partners. It does NOT seek applications for participation in the program.) The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) participants will engage in lessons on business management and network with mentors from their regions and the United States. The implementing partner will also be expected to organize a pre-launch training program for facilitators throughout South Africa, to occur in Johannesburg. Fondation SUEZ — Biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions
Fondation SUEZ accepts applications for the Acting for Natural Assets program in search for “Biodiversity and nature-based solutions.” Applicants must demonstrate how their project addresses the issue of conserving biodiversity or restoring ecosystem service. The project is situated in France or the French overseas territories. SUEZ will donate a total amount of €100 thousand that will be divided up between three projects according to their needs. Ashoka — Act for Biodiversity Challenge
The “Act for Biodiversity Challenge,” supported by Vittel, seeks already-implemented solutions that engage people and organizations across sectors to preserve and restore biodiversity. Solutions can be designed for agriculture, urban environments, and forests. The applicants must be a nonprofit, for-profit, hybrid organization, or have a fiscal sponsor with an already implemented project beyond the idea stage (pilot projects are eligible).
