The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) funds research projects of young scientists in the areas of conservation of wildlife and ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region (including South and Southeast Asia). Applicants must be less than 40 years old and work or study full-time in a university or research institution. The Project Coordinator is requested to have teaching and/or working experience at a Japanese university or research institution. The maximum grant size is ¥1,5 million per project. Geres – Women’s Entrepreneurship
Geres is an international development NGO which works to improve the living conditions of the poorest and tackle climate change and its impacts. Geres seeks to promote women’s entrepreneurship by scaling-up entrepreneurs and value chains involved in energy access in Mali, Morocco, and Myanmar. This call for expressions of interest is aimed at identifying up to four consultants (ideally three national consultants) to develop a country-based gender strategy sensitive to the specificities of each region. Australian Center for International Agricultural Research — Meryl Williams Fellowship for Women Agricultural Scientists
The Meryl Williams Fellowship is a women’s leadership program to support women in agricultural research for development to enhance their leadership skills and professional development. The first two cohorts of the fellowship include a variety of activities that will take place across a 15-month period in Australia and Singapore. Female agricultural researchers and scientists from the Philippines, Nepal, Myanmar, Mongolia, Timor Leste, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Kiribati, Tuvalu and The Solomon Islands are eligible to apply. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation — Global Program on Food Security
The Global Program Food Security seeks innovative initiatives to contribute to food systems’ improvements and transformative and sustainable impacts on poor people. The SDC invites abstracts of project proposals in four themes related to global food security: (1) Human rights in food systems; (2) Responsible land-based investment practices; (3) Agrobiodiversity for food security and nutrition; and (4) Nutrition in secondary cities. Proposals under theme 3 should focus on improving food security and nutrition of smallholder farmers in three to four countries in Africa and Asia. SDC’s contribution will be a maximum of CHF 2,5 million per year and covering a maximum of 50% – 80% of the total cost of the project for up to 10 years. The deadline for abstracts is 28 August 2020. European Commission — Supporting Fishing Communities in Cambodia
The European Commission (EC) aims to support socio-economic development of Cambodia fishing communities in the coastal regions and promote integrated and sustainable wetland management and rehabilitation of the Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve. Applicants may request up to €4 million to implement projects that meet the criteria of the European Commission for the region. U.S. Department of State — Technology to Safeguard Ocean Ecosystems and Resources
The U.S. Department of State provides financial assistance to ocean conservation projects in developing countries. A grant for up to US$200 thousand will be awarded for work that will support effective management of Marine Protected Areas in selected countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The proposed program could include at least one technological solution to improve MPA surveillance. Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards — Edition 2021
Cartier supports women entrepreneurs who lead social enterprises in their early phases that have potential to grow significantly. U.S. Department of State — Support for Environmental Cooperation
The U.S. Department of State announces funding for logistics, meetings coordination, and digital communications to support environmental cooperation between all the U.S. Free Trade Agreement countries. Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization — Addressing Plastic Problems for Transforming Communities
The SEAMEO-Japan Education for Sustainable Development Award invites applications for projects or initiatives related to plastic waste management practices in schools and communities. The entry should demonstrate how the school’s program transforms the community, reduces plastic usage, or cleans the ecosystem of the community. Any public and private kindergarten, elementary schools, secondary school, vocational or technical school in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam is invited to apply.
