Euromena Consulting — Awards for Sub-Saharan Africa Startups

Euromena Consulting invites applications for the 3rd Euromena Awards – Sub-Saharan Africa Edition. The awards are intended for companies or innovative projects with social, economic, environmental and/or societal impact. To be eligible, the startup must be based in a sub-saharan country. The three winners will receive 6 months of customized business consulting (coaching, mentorship, and advisory services), plus financial rewards – 1st place €5 thousand; 2nd place €3 thousand; 3rd place €2 thousand. The Land Matrix Initiative is an online open access platform about large-scale land acquisitions in low- and middle-income countries. Land Matrix seeks a land-based organisation in Ghana to assist with data collection and verification on large-scale land acquisitions. The maximum amount financed is US$ 6,300. German Academic Exchange Service — Masters and Doctoral Studies in Poverty, Land & Agrarian Studies

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for Masters and Doctoral Studies in Poverty, Land & Agrarian Studies at the Institute for Poverty, Land & Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), University of the Western Cape (UWC). The scholarship covers tuition fees, travel, and a monthly living allowance. The scholarship is aimed at young candidates, mid-career professionals, researchers and university staff from Africa. International Trade Centre — Support for Women Entrepreneurs and Women-owned Businesses

The International Trade Centre (ITC) invites applications from women entrepreneurs and women-owned businesses for the SheTrades Invest program. Selected companies will gain access to learning opportunities, technical assistance, and a network of investors. The program is open to businesses from across Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America active in the following sectors: agriculture; energy; environment; tourism; water; and many others. Government of Japan — Japan Africa Scholarship Program

The Japan Africa Scholarship (JADS) Program, funded by the Government of Japan, provides a two-year scholarship to African students for post-graduate studies in Japan. JADS core areas of study focus include energy, agriculture, and environmental sustainability, among others. The scholarship program provides tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and travel allowance. The program is open to students who have gained admission to an approved Masters degree course at a Japanese partner university. Candidates should be 35 years old or younger. European Commission — Funding for Agricultural Development in Madagascar

The European Commission seeks to contribute to the sustainable improvement of rural households and their food security in Madagascar. The objective of this call for proposals is to intensify and diversify sustainable agriculture, strengthen agro-ecological products, and invest in the agriculture and wood energy sectors. Grants under this call range from €800 thousand to €3.5 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in the EU or Sub-Saharan Africa. Flame Tree Initiative — Off-Grid Energy Development Entrepreneurship Lab

Flame Tree Initiative (FTI) provides training, partnerships, and resources to promising African entrepreneurs seeking to create enterprises that address local development challenges. In collaboration with Mzuzu University, FTI invites Malawian entrepreneurs to apply to the Off-Grid Energy Development Entrepreneurship Lab (DELab). Climate Tracker — Assignment for Photographers

Climate Tracker seeks 20 photographers from selected countries in Africa, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, and the Caribbean to cover topics on global climate solutions ranging from renewable energy, climate displacement, coastal resilience, mangroves restoration, and more. Photographers will be compensated for their work with a stipend of €350. Local travel costs will be covered. Applications are invited from photographers with professional experience and knowledge of environmental and climate change issues. Photographers aged 18-30 are encouraged to apply. The Netherlands Organization for Cooperation in Higher Education (NUFFIC) calls for joint proposals for Orange Knowledge institutional collaboration projects. The maximum available funding for this call falls between the amounts of €600 thousand and €2.2 million (depending on the call for proposals). Programs include subjects in energy and food security.
