The Climate Change Africa Opportunities (CCAO) Network asks young climate and environment activists to become Green Ambassadors for climate in Africa. The network aims to promote young climate activists and support them in remaining proactive for the protection of the environment and the fight against climate change. Green Ambassadors are voluntary activists but will receive international recognition and access to networking opportunities. The African Development Bank connects youth-led African businesses with global investors. The goal of the AgriPitch Competition is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in agriculture among youth in Africa and improve livelihoods through inclusive growth. African companies are invited to submit their project proposals for consideration. U.S. African Development Foundation — Supporting African Farmers in Uganda
The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) invites proposals for grant financing and local support from African companies with innovative solutions to improve farmer incomes. Proposals will only be accepted from registered African-owned and led entities in Uganda that have experience working with farmer organizations, cooperatives and associations. The Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) invites expressions of interest from senior experts to prepare a report on different aspects of marine litter in the Western Indian Ocean region. The reports should focus on the status of marine litter and microplastics knowledge in the region, their ecological, human health and economic impacts, and the effectiveness of measures undertaken to address the challenge. The EnAccess Foundation invites proposals for open source innovations focusing on providing energy access with livelihood focus in Tanzania. The idea is to provide households, businesses, and institutions with access to electricity and reduce energy poverty. Each project may request a grant of up to US$ 150 thousand. Eligibility extends to start-ups, companies, non-profits, individual innovators, investors, and researchers. Organizations should have a minimum of 1-2 years of business operations. U.S. Agency for International Development — Water Resources Management for WASH in Nigeria
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) accepts concept papers with focus on reducing water borne diseases. USAID intends to provide direct awards to new and underutilized local organizations in Nigeria or locally established partners. Projects should address the priority area of water and sanitation, behavior change related to WASH practices, or WASH institutional development and watershed management. Izele — Small Grants for Biodiversity Conservation
Izele is a conservation network website designed for people and organizations working in biodiversity conservation in Africa. The 2020 Izele Small Grant scheme offers three grants of US$1,500, one each for an Eswatini-, Mozambique- and South Africa-based organization contributing to the conservation of biodiversity. Luc Hoffmann Institute — Diversifying Community Livelihoods from Wildlife
The Luc Hoffmann Institute, the African Leadership University’s School of Wildlife Conservation and the WWF launch a global innovation challenge.The principal aim of the “Beyond Tourism in Africa” challenge is to discover new revenue models that do not depend on tourism, but still enable local communities in Africa to derive income from wildlife. Any individual or team with bold ideas from around the world may apply. Up to 15 ideas will be selected. Successful applicants will win a place in the African Leadership University’s 8-month incubation program. During the incubation program, participants may receive a grant of up to US$10 thousand.
