The Grassroots Justice Prize recognizes grassroots institutions across the globe that are working to put the power of law into people’s hands. Three awards, each of US$10 thousand, are available to non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and public institutions that focus on legal empowerment to tackle poverty, injustice, or other social problems. The Government of India invites research projects to apply to the Call for Joint Proposals, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological co-operation between Egypt and India. Priority research areas include biotechnology, energy applications, among others. Financial support for international air fares, accommodation and Rs2,500 per diem for expenses, and also minor support for research related expenses like contingency and consumables can be provided. The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region. Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley, Central Asia & Turkey, Southwest U.S. & Northern Mexico, Northern Australia, and Melanesia. The Disaster Resilience in the Compact Nations (RESILIENCE) is a five-year USAID program that aims to improve the local capacity to prepare for natural disasters. The activity will expedite delivery of emergency and reconstruction assistance in the event of natural disasters in the Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of Marshall Islands. The objective is to increased disaster management capacity of local communities and host governments. USAID intends to provide US$17 million in total funding. Eligibility for this NOFO is not restricted. This funding opportunity is open to all interested organizations (i.e., non-profit organizations, universities, consortiums, for-profit organizations, etc.). The ChangemakerXchange Summit in Spain will bring together 25 top young changemakers across civil society, media, the corporate sector, government, and more. The aim of the summit is to build a cross-sectoral network of changemakers that work together to address societal issues in a collaborative manner. Eligibility extends to participants who lead, co-lead, have founded, or have co-founded an ongoing social venture that addresses a relevant social problem, including in the theme of Environment (among others). Applicants should be based in Europe (including Turkey, European Russia and Southern Caucasus, Armenia, Georgia & Azerbaijan) or the MENA region (including Maghreb, North Africa, Middle East). The European Commission seeks project proposals to sustainable growth in Asia and Central Asia with the aim to develop of a green economy and foster the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and circular economy. Proposed projects may focus on agri-food processing, renewable energy, sustainable tourism, waste management, and many other sectors. Target countries under this call are: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Indonesia, India, Lao PDR, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The YSEALI Bootcamp, organized by the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia in collaboration with Me.reka and Biji-biji Initiative, is an initiative seeking innovative solutions to local challenges across the themes social entrepreneurship, sustainable development, civic engagement, and education. Interested participants must be 18 to 35 years old and demonstrate interest, knowledge, or professional experience in at least one of the main areas. Participants will receive 3-month of intensive business training/mentorship and a few selected groups will win a project grant of RM2 thousand to kick-start and implement their solutions. The Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme encourages the participation of young African refugees and internally displaced persons at postgraduate level, for Masters and PhD programmes in the fields of Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Health, Education, Engineering, and Social Sciences. Candidates must be under 35 years and have proof of admission to undertake a full time Masters program at a recognized university of an African Union Member State. The Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholar Awards are open to U.S. scholars who have recently completed their doctoral degrees or other terminal degrees. The selected individuals engage in research, teaching, and mentoring at their host institutions — including institutions in developing countries. The Innovate Green Competition (IGC) is a cooperative initiative that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship within university students in the MENA region. Individuals or groups of up to 3 university students with innovative solutions addressing environmental challenges are invited to apply to the competition. One member from each of the top three finalists will be invited to the 4th UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-4) in Nairobi (March 2019). The winners receive cash prizes of up to US$10 thousand.
