The US Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced the Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) to stimulate the development and adoption of conservation approaches and technologies towards soil and grazing land health, and water quality. Eligibility extends to non-federal entities (NFE) and individuals for projects carried out in the Pacific Islands Area locations including the state of Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. UCL supports interdisciplinary research on themes relating to one or more of the Nahrein Network’s five aims through the Research Grant Awards program. Overarching aims of the program are related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (water and land). Two types of funding are offered: small grants (up to £30 thousand) for projects led by Iraqi researchers, or collaborations between Iraqi and UK researchers; and large grants (up to £100 thousand) for collaborations between Iraqi, Lebanese or Turkish and UK researchers. The British Embassy, through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s programme, invites local and international organisations to submit proposals for projects on British Embassy priorities in Peru. There are four thematic areas, including ‘clean growth’ that relates to reducing the use of plastics and initiatives that contribute to making the Pan American and Parapan American Games carbon neutral. The IUSSTF invites Indian Women Scientists, Engineers & Technologists to apply for the “Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM” (2nd Batch) to undertake international collaborative research in the USA. Proposed thematic areas of work include agricultural sciences, life sciences and seven others. Eligibility extends to Indian women (aged 21-35 years) currently pursuing Ph.D. degree. The EC announces funding for the Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment – Albania Kosovo. The objectives of the programme are to strengthen good neighbourly relations and foster environmentally friendly and social inclusive economic development of the bordering regions, through the promotion of their touristic potential and respect of its common cultural and natural heritage. The first lot will be allocated to the development of green economy and circular economy, and the second lot to tackling water pollution and promoting climate change adaptation related to water basins. Eligibility for funding extends to non profit legal organizations from either Albania or Kosovo. The grant requested under this call for proposals must be between €420 thousand and €840 thousand for Lot 1 and between €600 thousand and €1.2 million for Lot 2. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in any one of the following countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkmenistan. The priorities under this call include one on environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is expected to be in the range of C$15 thousand to C$30 thousand per project. Larger projects may be considered on an exceptional basis. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) offers grants to foreign citizens and Italian citizens living abroad for the academic year 2019-2020 in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes. (Note: This may include one or more categories covered by the Terra Viva Grants Directory). Grantees will receive a €900 monthly allowance on a quarterly basis and health insurance. The MEPI Local Grants Program seeks proposals that support inclusive economic growth in the Western Sahara by improving local economic opportunities. Proposals should develop and implementing locally-designed solutions to environmental, economic, or social problems or promote inclusive economic growth that reaches marginalized communities. The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides travel grants to cover hard costs associated with upcoming travel for an international reporting project. The Pulitzer Center seeks applications for data-driven journalism projects related to land rights and property rights. Projects may focus on issues related to indigenous land rights due to the exploration of natural resources, among many other themes. Most awards fall in the range of US$5-15 thousand. The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders ages 18-35 in the ASEAN countries. YSEALI seeks organizations to implement a five day workshop in Malaysia to boost the strategic communication and advocacy skills of NGOs in Southeast Asia. The workshop should build capacity in working with the media and focus on human and wildlife trafficking and environmental sustainability. Funding of US$250 thousand is available.
