The Elsevier Foundation Green and Sustainable Chemistry Challenge seeks to stimulate innovative chemistry research that helps the environment and low-resource communities. Proposals should outline innovative chemistry ideas that tackle some of the developing world’s greatest sustainability challenges. The winning project will receive €50 thousand, the second prize is €25 thousand. The Challenge is open to individuals and non-profit organizations. The deadline for submissions is 15 September 2019. Natural health food producer Rapunzel Naturkost and IFOAM – Organics International, the international umbrella organization for organic agriculture, invite nominations for the ‘ONE WORLD AWARD 2020’ (OWA). The award recognizes innovative ideas, projects and people in three areas of sustainability, including conservation of nature and biodiversity, organic farming, contributions to stop climate change (energy conservation or use of renewable energy), and waste management. The winner will receive €45 thousand in prize money. Nominations can be submitted either by individuals or by organizations. Nominations will be accepted until 30 September 2019. Details 

The Fulbright-National Geographic Storytelling Fellowship provides opportunities for an academic year of international travel and storytelling in up to three countries on a globally significant theme. For the 2020-21 competition, the Fellowship will accept proposals to undertake an in-depth examination of a globally relevant issue (possibly within the thematic areas of the Terra Viva Grant Directory). In addition to financial support, participants will receive training in professional storytelling. Eligibility for the fellowships is limited to U.S. citizens. Innovate UK and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) seeks applications for the Newton-Ungku Omar Fund. The challenge invites innovative products, processes and services with focus on waste management or mobility. Eligibility extends to UK based businesses with at least one partner organisation, business, or academic institution located in Malaysia. With funding from the government of Japan, UNESCO announces the current cycle of the Keizo Obuchi Research Fellowships. The program is open to post-graduate researchers no older than age 40 who wish to pursue research work abroad (preferably in their own region) in any of four specific fields. These fields include environment — with particular emphasis on disaster risk reduction (DRR). Applications are invited from all Member States. Grants are a maximum of US$10 thousand. The Thomson Reuters Foundation seeks participants for a four-day workshop on reporting land rights in New Delhi, India (6-9 August 2019). Journalists with outstanding story ideas on property rights will receive training, editorial support and limited funding to help them realize their stories. The program will cover airfare, lodging, and subsistence for Indian journalists from outside Delhi. Eligibility extends to journalists working for domestic media (print, radio, TV, online). The Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Czech invite joint proposals under the India-Czech Scientific and Technological Cooperation Programme. Relevant priority areas under this call are (1) natural sciences and biotechnology; and (2) research of climate change, environment and energy; among others. The program will consider a realistic budget for manpower, consumables, and travel expenses (for exchange visits). The duration of each project should be three years. TravelGrants makes small travel grants to activists, changemakers, charities, students, social media influencers, and artists. Applicants may submit proposals, essays, films or audio, clips, poems, photos, or presentations to show how their travel will change them and the world around them. The winner will receive a US$500 travel grant. Participation is open to any individual or organization in any country. The deadline for submission is 7 August 2019. More

The Department of Science & Technology (DST) and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, invite proposals for joint research projects in the following scientific areas: i) Natural Sciences; ii) Engineering and Technology; iii) Medical and Health Sciences; iv) Agricultural Sciences. The fund will cover research expenses, exchange of visits for research projects, international air travel, and the cost of furnished accommodation for approved research visits. The IDRC aims to increase the participation of women and other underrepresented groups in STEM fields by eliminating or reducing systemic barriers. The available budget per grant is between CA$200 thousand and CA$500 thousand. This call is open to research institutions, consortia, or non-governmental organizations with a strong presence in eligible low and middle-income countries.
