Earth Journalism Network — East Africa Wildlife Journalism Media Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites environmental, conservation or science-based journalism organizations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to apply for grants to work with African journalists to improve and increase wildlife and conservation coverage in the media. The proposed activities should include capacity building; issuing travel/reporting grants to journalists; and media roundtables/workshops. Swedish International Development Agency — Disaster Risk Management in Asia

Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Sida seeks applications for the Advanced International Training Programme “Disaster Risk Management.” The overall objective of this program is to strengthen capacity of individuals and their organisations to manage disaster risk. The total duration of the program is 12 months (phase 1–3). Technical experts and middle management staff members employed by public authorities, civil society, and academia involved in disaster risk management from Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Cambodia are invited to apply. Sida will cover costs related to all program phases except personal expenses, visa fees or any local airport taxes and departure fees. The closing date for applications is 28 October 2019. ASEAN Foundation — Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology

The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) accept applications for the Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology 2020. Fields of study under this program are (1) Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health; (2) Environmental Toxicology; (3) and Chemical Biology. The scholarship will cover tuition, round trip airfare, a monthly stipend, book allowance, and health insurance, among other expenses. Earth Journalism Network — Bay of Bengal Media Grants 2020

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) makes grants to media organizations in the Bay of Bengal region, that aim to improve the quantity and quality of information about climate change. Particular attention should be given to the adaptation needs, challenges, efforts and success stories of vulnerable and marginalized communities. Preference will be given to applications from or affiliated with professional journalists, media organizations, journalism schools, and the like. However, EJN will also consider applications by NGOs or environmental groups looking to build the capacity of journalists to cover conservation issues. Smogathon — Technology to Fight Air Pollution

Smogathon aims to fight air pollution through technology. Start-ups will compete for $15 thousand in cash and a contract to implement their innovation in Krakow, Poland. Smogathon welcomes participation from any group worldwide that works as a registered company, start-up, foundation, or research group with a legal entity. Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Small Scale Irrigation — Scaling Small-Scale Irrigation

The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Small Scale Irrigation seeks private sector partners in the areas of irrigation technology supply, finance and value chain development to accelerate scaling of small-scale irrigation technologies in Ghana and Ethiopia. Proposed projects must benefit smallholders and be environmentally sustainable. The proposed budget should not exceed US$725 thousand. German Embassy — Small-Scale Project Funding for Bangladesh

Germany provides direct financial assistance to NGOs, local communities and religious institutions for the implementation of a small project for the benefit of disadvantaged groups of society in Bangladesh. Organizations may apply for up to €25 thousand. Project proposals may be submitted to the Embassy as hard copy by 30 November 2019. Small-Scale Project Funding 2020 

Coady International Institute — Climate Basics for Community Resilience

The Coady International Institute offers a seven-week online course that gives participants a basic overview of the science behind climate change. The course will focus on particular areas that climate change will impact, including water resources, human rights, and severe weather events. Bursaries of CAD300 are available for select candidates. BeAnimal — Autumn Writing Competition

BeAnimal invited submissions to the autumn writing competition. Participants have to submit a short story (500-1000 words in length) about nature and sustainability. The grand prize is a trip to the Valley of Flowers National Park in India. The contest is open to anyone. Submissions have to be made in English. The submission deadline is 16 December 2019. More

TravelGrants — Youth Travel Grant Opportunity 2019

TravelGrants supports young activists, changemakers, charities, students, social media influencers, and artists from around the world with travel grants. The travel project must represent an opportunity to gain intercultural knowledge and learn about an environment other than the applicants. The winner will receive a US$500 travel grant.
