The Taronga Field Conservation Program invites applications for conservation projects. Taronga gives funding and support to conservation projects that help protect and regenerate habitats, stop poaching and trafficking of wildlife, and reduce conflict between communities and wildlife. Taronga will support the field-based conservation programs with grants of up to $20 thousand. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, community groups, and individuals. The Heliconia Society International makes small grants supporting research on any aspects of the botany and horticulture of the Zingiberales conducted by graduate and post-doctoral students enrolled at recognized universities and research institutions. Annual grants are US$1,000. Awardees will also receive one year’s free membership to the HSI, and a summary of their research proposal will be published in the HSI Bulletin. The Pro Natura Foundation makes grants to individuals and organizations for nature conservation in Japan and developing countries. This program is focused on scientific research concerning the conservation of biodiversity and the relationship between humans and the environment. Grants of up to 1,5 million yen are for one year. SOS announces a special call for proposals to protect threatened lemurs in Madagascar. Applicants should develop their proposals in accord with the IUCN strategy for lemur conservation in Madagascar. Eligibility for grants extends to civil society organizations for field-based conservation. Applicants will be expected to work closely with local communities and government authorities. Administered by WWF Hong Kong, the Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund supports the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their wetland habitats in the East Asian – Australasian flyway. Grants are up to US$5 thousand per program or project. The application deadline is 31 October of each year. Link

Mobilise Action accepts applications for the ITC Conference Grants from early-career investigators and PhD students from cost Inclusiveness Target Countries (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey). The grants aim to support researchers to participate to the Biodiversity_Next International Conference that takes place in October in The Netherlands. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) invites submissions for the call for proposals on Sustainable Alternative Livelihood Projects for Marine Protected Areas in the Republic of Mauritius. The call aims to mainstream the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services into coastal zone management. Eligibility extends to non-governmental organizations  in the Republic of Mauritius and Rodrigues. Proposal amounts should be of a maximum of US$50 thousand. Outdoor Hunt invites application for the Annual Scholarship Awards 2019. Participants are asked to write an original article on “Benefits of Trekking” of about 800-1000 words (min 800 words) in the English language. The prize is open to both postgraduate and undergraduate of college in any stream. Three winners get prizes of US$1 thousand (1st Prize), US$500 (2nd prize), and US$300 (3rd Prize). Samsung Engineering jointly with UN Environment launches the 12th Eco-generation Environmental Essay Competition inviting the youth all over the world to raise awareness on the theme “Beat Air Pollution”. The competition aims to collect inspiring and creative ideas on why we should reduce air pollution with regards to its causes, effects, and consequences. Eligibility extends to Tunza Eco-generation members aged between 14 and 24 years. The winners will receive a certificate and a Samsung tablet. Deadline for submissions is 02 September 2019. More

The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society invites applications for the Asia Conservation Fund 2019/20. The HKBWS funds research, monitoring, education and capacity building related to bird protection in Asia.  Higher priority is given to projects which target species that occur in Hong Kong or on the East Asian and Australasian Flyway; and to projects that assist the relevant country in meeting Aichi Biodiversity Targets.
