University College London — Research Grant Awards

UCL supports interdisciplinary research on themes relating to one or more of the Nahrein Network’s five aims through the Research Grant Awards program. Overarching aims of the program are related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (water and land). Two types of funding are offered: small grants (up to £30 thousand) for projects led by Iraqi researchers, or collaborations between Iraqi and UK researchers; and large grants (up to £100 thousand) for collaborations between Iraqi, Lebanese or Turkish and UK researchers. British Embassy Lima — Gender Equality, Clean Growth and Media Freedom

The British Embassy, through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s programme, invites local and international organisations to submit proposals for projects on British Embassy priorities in Peru. There are four thematic areas, including ‘clean growth’ that relates to reducing the use of plastics and initiatives that contribute to making the Pan American and Parapan American Games carbon neutral. The British Embassy in Lima invites project proposals up to £50 thousand to apply. The deadline for the submission of projects is 19 May 2019. Link

 

International Union for Conservation of Nature — Call for Proposals: Reduce Plastic Leakage into the Ocean

IUCN announces the call for proposals to reduce plastic leakage into the ocean. The overall aim is to enhance plastic leakage reduction or avoidance, reducing plastic leaking into the marine environment as part of the Marine Plastics and Coastal Communities (MARPLASTICCs) project. Target countries are Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam.  IUCN will provide financial support of up to US$50 thousand in each target country for a period of 12 months. Hong Kong Bird Watching Society — Asia Conservation Fund 2019/20

The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society invites applications for the Asia Conservation Fund 2019/20. The HKBWS funds research, monitoring, education and capacity building related to bird protection in Asia.  Higher priority is given to projects which target species that occur in Hong Kong or on the East Asian and Australasian Flyway; and to projects that assist the relevant country in meeting Aichi Biodiversity Targets. Indo-US Science and Technology Forum — Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women

The IUSSTF invites Indian Women Scientists, Engineers & Technologists to apply for the “Indo-U.S. Fellowship for Women in STEMM” (2nd Batch) to undertake international collaborative research in the USA. Proposed thematic areas of work include agricultural sciences, life sciences and seven others. Eligibility extends to Indian women (aged 21-35 years) currently pursuing Ph.D. degree. Unitech International — Carbon Footprint Challenge 2019

The Carbon Footprint Challenge is open for ideas and solution to decrease carbon footprint of manufacturing, industrial processes as well as for products throughout their entire value chain. The challenge is open to students and young employees. Each team must consist of 3-5 people. The winner will receive CHF10 thousand. Ideas can be submitted until 07 July 2019. Find out more

UK Research and Innovation — Sustainable Energy and International Development: Beyond Technology

The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), ESRC, NERC and Innovate UK invite applications for the  ‘UKRI-GCRF Sustainable Energy and International Development: Beyond Technology’ call. The call aims to support cutting-edge research and innovation which addresses the problems faced by developing countries. Applicants from all disciplines are welcome to apply. Candidates must be from a UK based organisation, however, the call also funds international co-investigators. There will be four proposals funded of up to £1.5 million per grant. International Fund for Agricultural Development — Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the specialised UN agency, funds journalists from around Africa to attend the workshop ‘Reporting Rural Poverty and Agricultural Development’. The programme aim is to enable journalists to tell the story of rural development.  Participants will have the opportunity to attend the African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) in Kigali in September 2019. Eligibility extends to full-time journalists from across Africa. Bursaries include air travel expenses (economy class), accommodation, local transfers and meals. European Commission — Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment

The EC announces funding for the Cross Border Cooperation Programme for Environment – Albania Kosovo. The objectives of the programme are to strengthen good neighbourly relations and foster environmentally friendly and social inclusive economic development of the bordering regions, through the promotion of their touristic potential and respect of its common cultural and natural heritage. The first lot will be allocated to the development of green economy and circular economy, and the second lot to tackling water pollution and promoting climate change adaptation related to water basins. Eligibility for funding extends to non profit legal organizations from either Albania or Kosovo. The grant requested under this call for proposals must be between €420 thousand  and €840 thousand for Lot 1 and between €600 thousand and €1.2 million for Lot 2. WWF in India — Small Grants Innovation Program

WWF-India offers grants up to INR400 thousand for conservation research or action projects of up to two years. Grants are made to individuals to be utilized primarily for field activities. Priority is for research and conservation aligned with WWF’s program in India. The last date for submission of applications is 30 November 2019 (for the January term). About the program
