The U.S. Agency for International Development Mission in the Philippines (USAID/Philippines) invites applications for funding from eligible organizations to carry out activities that will contribute to the improvement of natural resource security and governance in the Philippines. USAID will support activities that strengthen the Philippines’ commitment to biodiversity and habitat protection and improve the government’s capacity to manage its natural resources. The European Commission (EC) announces a call for proposals aimed at research and innovation projects with focus on behavioral, social and cultural change for the European Green Deal. Projects under this topic may implement research on the behavioral change of individuals, private corporations and/or the public sector across the EU. Furthermore, actions should include several experimental studies, each implemented in at least four Member States and/or Associated Countries. The Earthshot Prize is a global environment prize designed by the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The Earthshot Prize is centered around five Earthshots which aim to inspire innovation and support changemakers who come up with the brightest ideas to save our planet. The Women Environmental Programme has been appointed an official nominator and seeks individuals, communities, businesses and organizations to submit ideas and possible candidates for nomination. The five Earthshots include: (1) Protect and Restore Nature, (2) Clean Air; (3) Revive Oceans; (4) Waste-free World; (5) Climate Change. Each winner will receive a global platform and profile. The Global Disruptive Tech Challenge 2021 aims to identify and support disruptive technologies and innovative approaches to landscape restoration in the Aral Sea region and Central Asia. Innovators (individuals or organizations) from around the world are invited to submit disruptive technologies that can help alleviate the negative impacts on landscapes from natural and human induced factors (including unsustainable agricultural and forestry practices, water scarcity, and climate change). The American Society of Primatologists (ASP) supports students and young researchers from habitat countries who are engaged in primate conservation. The ASP Research Award amounts range from US$500 to US$1,500 and support training initiatives, start-up funds, supplementary funding for students, and innovations in animal care and research technology. Pathways: Human Dimensions of Wildlife is a conference and training program designed to address human-wildlife conflict issues. The Salmon Community Scholarship offers a limited number of scholarships to attend Pathways 2021 (19-22 September, USA). The scholarship covers the full cost of registration (US$300 for students, US$550 for non-students). Applicants must demonstrate ability to cover the remainder of their costs not covered by the scholarship (lodging, travel, incidentals, etc.). The scholarship is open to individuals worldwide closely impacted by the issues of salmon recovery and the financial hardships created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Climate Tracker seeks 4 emerging storytellers from Southeast Asia to co-apply to the Rainforest Journalism Fund. Proposal should address the forest restoration and/or rehabilitation issues in the Southeast Asia region. Each fellow will be supported to write one feature story. Healthy Oceans Technology Innovation Challenge (TIC) calls for the submission of pilot technology solutions that prevent plastic waste or that can help restore and/or protect coral reefs. The selected proposal can receive a grant of up to US$500 thousand, but technology providers must co-finance at least 10% of the total cost. Innovations have to be implemented in Asia. Eligibility extends to companies, non-profit organizations, CSOs, research institutions and government-owned enterprises. The deadline for submissions of EOIs is 27 November 2020. The European Commission invites proposals for the restoration of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Projects are expected to focus on degraded terrestrial, freshwater, coastal or marine ecosystems, responding to relevant restoration goals enhancing biodiversity. The project results are expected to contribute to maintained and enhanced natural carbon sinks and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The Commission considers proposals requesting a contribution between €16-25 million. Research organizations in some 130 developing countries are automatically eligible for funding. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supports small-scale projects for activities that conserve and restore the environment while enhancing people’s wellbeing and livelihoods. Focal areas are biodiversity, seascape conservation, climate change, climate-smart agroecology, and energy access in the Maldives. The maximum grant amount per project is US$30 thousand, however, in exceptional cases, US$50 thousand may be considered.
