InfoNile invites applications for training, workshop and mentorship on Reporting on Rivers and Biodiversity in the Nile Basin. The weeklong workshop in Uganda will feature presentations, field trips, discussions, practical sessions, and group activities. Successful journalists will receive transport to Uganda and back to their home country, accommodation including meals for the duration of the workshop, and grants to produce their stories. Reporters and editors from Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are invited to apply. The Biodiversity Partners Program (BiPP) is a training course with focus on biodiversity regeneration and nature based solutions with the aim to support the implementation of pro-nature projects. The program is for organizations (companies, institutions, etc.) and entrepreneurs who develop or support projects that will have an impact on biodiversity. Eligibility extends to Southern African projects holders in Namibia, Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Malawi, Zambia, and Botswana. Participation in the program is free. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks Expressions of Interest for the pre-selection of local partners for the USAID/Uganda Biodiversity for Resilience (B4R) Activity in Uganda. The (B4R) Activity will provide direct financial support in the form of sub-awards to private sector and other community-based enterprises with the aim to conserve and manage biodiversity in target ecosystems. Awards range from US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand per project for a period of 12 months. Target sectors include climate-smart, organic and/or restorative Agriculture, Eco-Tourism, Forestry, wildlife-based Enterprises, renewable Energy, and Aquaculture. Wild Animal Initiative provides grants for research projects that help us understand and improve the lives of wild animals. Small grants support innovative methods for measuring and monitoring wild animal welfare, population regulation, wildlife rehabilitation and conservation interventions. Grant size varies from US$2 thousand to US$30 thousand. The small grants program is open to anyone, although Wild Animal Initiative is especially interested in supporting postdocs and PhD students pursuing a long-term research career in the field of wild animal welfare, and researchers who have not previously included welfare considerations in their work. The Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Environments (RISE) Grant Program supports strategies to prevent gender-based violence in the context of natural resource access and control. For that purpose, RISE seeks partnerships between environmental organizations, Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, local and grassroots communities. RISE seeks to fund up to six projects in the range of US$100 thousand to US$300 thousand each. Projects must be implemented in Central America and the Caribbean, Eastern and Southern Africa, or South and Southeast Asia. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers reporting grants to journalists in Tunisia to support the production of in-depth stories on the scale of unsustainable marine management and biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea. EJN welcomes submissions that highlight the impact on coastal communities, including the loss of sustainable livelihoods, the hardships of small-scale fishers, the decline of valuable ecosystems, and the loss of natural and cultural heritage. The Parrot Conservation Grants Program invites applications. The purpose of this funding is to implement conservation projects for parrots currently threatened with global extinction. Priority will be given to projects directed towards conservation of threatened parrot species in the wild. Research projects with direct conservation application will also be considered.
